New DIY Ca reactor

I am with Phyl. I have all of the materials with the exception of the clear PVC or acrylic. It just kills me to pay $25 per foot plus shipping for it

I had my first look at this thread today I haven't looked around for any parts yet -- will let you know if I find the cutting board there are 3 Walmarts within driving distance of me bound to find it in one

Let me know when you are ready to order. There is a place near me that sells acrylic tubing. Currently they do not have any in stock and they will not get any in until they receive a large order. I'll call them on Friday if they have any I'll let you know.

Once all the parts are together about how long does this take? Could it be done in the span of 4 hours given the right tools? Or is there something about the process that causes it to be lengthy or need to span days? Could we do this as a DIY workshop and get a bunch of folks together to do it in an afternoon?

I went through both threads of your DIY Ca and Kalk reactor, as newly in this I'm beging to understand lots of the confusions, I'm gather up all information to begin build them. Can you post diffrent angle of the trap on out going line on your kalk reactor, I seen the pic you posted, there is look like a fitting come out of a 4" pvc .
ps. I did pm and emailed for info also.

Phyl, the 4.5" od tubing is not PVC its acrylic, check the acrylic prices, they are much lower.

Hello all
For this project, I wander if any one order clear pvc pipe from any where recently the price on usplactic GEBC brought is now $16.67 per foot ...... and minimum 8 ft..... OUCH !!!!!

You need to be looking at the Acrylic tubing, not the Clear PVC. I made that same mistake.

Hey everybody, I have two spare rio pumps 2100, I think they suck, I bought one and two months later, had to replace with another one. Now I'm stock with 2 malfunction rio pumps( they stick sometimes). I ended up replacing them with a mag 5 and is doing great. Now can I use one of them to run this reactor or do they have to be submerged? or should I buy a mag 2 to be safe?
