New DSA 105 rimless leaking.

I am talking with them and they offered to take a call from DSA . But dsa wont contact them. That fish place has been helpful sofar. I just emailed jarod and asked if there is anything they can do to remedy the situtation because i feel this is no fault of my own.

Man, such a bunch of BS from DSA.
Had there tank last time and was not thrilled with their customer service and other things either. Went with Planet Aquariums this time and much happier, although I haven't had to deal with CS yet.

But yeah, you should be talking to the store you bought it from.
That's who needs to make good on this.
If they can't get it rectified within a few days, then you go to your CC company.

Im trying but it seems like its the weekend and everyone left early. I think the receptionist at deep sea aquatics likes me. I actually got her to call tom on his way home on his cell. he told her he would get back to me monday. I informed geri the receptionist that im very persistant and we were about to become good friends and i would invite her to my sons birthday party and send xmas card. My last email to tom View attachment 309458

I also found out from geri that tom is second in command at DSA. And dan who handles the warranty issues is the president of the company. So be warned all potential buyers. If you have a warranty issue. Good luck trying to get the president of the company to handle you claim

+1 DSA built a good tank for me, but I've also had issues with responsiveness.

Dont get me wrong the tank is beautiful. But when you have a problem dan will be nowhere to be found. I have ecotech. Great service lifereef. Great service. DSA is horrible

View attachment 309333View attachment 309334these are the pictures of the leak. Its on the bottom. Under the tank. Need to look up from inside the stand

Are you certain the tank is actually leaking? IME salt creep like that could be caused by a very slightly leaking bulkhead, or possibly saltwater spilled on the side glass that then got into the trim and crept out the bottom a little.

Not saying you're wrong, just asking in case maybe it's a false alarm. (wouldn't that be a great thing :) )

Yea the would be a great thing. Butbi think before i actually did all this i would have made sure its a leak. Its in the front left hand corner. Nowhere near the bulkheads. Also cleaned the glass the area underneath and kept my hands out of the tank. The pictures are after 3 days.

That's too bad. I was hoping you had jumped the gun and I might be able to make your day with my question :)

Good luck and I hope they make this right. I've actually been planning to buy a DSA105 for about 6 months now so I'll sure be watching how this plays out. (And I'm not making that up to try to get a response, %100 truth... I really like the tank, and very much don't want to be discouraged from my planned purchase)

I love the tank too. I sitting on my sofa looking at it now. But if a company cant back up their product what good is it. Example my mp-40 started making a loud whine. Contacted ecotech. Had a new one on my porch in less the 48 hours. DSA has not said no. the are just ducking every call. Dan handles the warranty claims yet is the president of the company. And you can never get a hold of him

And that is what it seems like their doing. Sent emails with multiple options to resolve this. It seems like they answer one email a day. I kinda think they hope i just go away. uploadfromtaptalk1425129034506.jpgif you read this email from them. The last paragraph. How he reminds me. Hes not the contact person for warranty issues. This guy was screaming at me on the actual phone call. Telling me im so lucky he even accepted this call. And if i didnt like the pace i could just drain the tank and ship it back to them at my cost. They would take whatever time necessary to analyze the problem. Then they would ship it back at my cost. Tank inhabitants were not his problem. Then reminded me thats why they only sell to dealers. Cause he cant stand to deal with customers. Do i think my proplem is the only thing he has to do all day. If you read my emails im always asking for a phone call. I feel much more can be accomplished talking.

Notice the " " around customer focused solution. You can sense the arrogance in his answer. On phone call my response was i deal with anybody you select within 100 miles. Think about trying to call a fish store that dont sell dsa tanks and asking them to accept shipment of tank that their not getting anything from. And from what im thinking he wants me to pay shipping cost cause nobody carries their tanks.View attachment 309558 where does it say im responsible for shipment of new tank if old one was defective.

That's horrible! I have the 105g too. It's about a year old. I really hope I have no future issues. I remember sending several unanswered emails prior to buying my tank and stand. All I needed to know was if there was a vertical divider brace between the cabinet doors. I finally got in contact with a receptionist, who rudely told me to "look at their website". The website was pretty lacking. It was saltwater aquariums.com that gave me a prompt response and description of the stand. Good luck.

To the op, if you're handy, do the repair yourself. Remove the livestock into some temporary tank or container and use some adhesive silicone like Momentive RTV100 series silicone. Drain, use acetone to clean after drying the area, apply to the area you feel is leaking plus maybe an inch or two and let sit 24 hrs before testing. It's terrible to have to do something like this, especially on a new tank, but it's seems like a better solution than kicking the dead "Tom" horse or driving 200+ miles round trip. HTH

I hate to hear about your tank. And the treatment from customer service. We do expect more from major distributors that we are giving or money to.

Ive called them before about ordering a custom tank and they told me I would have to get with a local store because they only deal in wholesale and do not deal with the public.

Usually how it works with wholesalers is that if there is a problem you return the merchandise to the store you purchased it from. One reason is because the retailers mark up the prices. So things can get very problematic if they sell to a store, and have to refund an individual. The retailer probably marked it up 50%. So if a refund was needed, they would be refunding lets say $500 for a tank they sold for $250.

Plus they may get better prices on shipping to a store rather than an individual. Or they may be able to put several tanks together and ship them so the shipping cost is offset.

It sounds like to me they are trying to get you to find a local store to go through , possibly for these or other reasons. Unfortunately for you , the retailer you bought the tank from no longer deals with DSA, and it sounds like for some reason they are refusing to either refund your money, give you the new tank, or order a new one for you.

The retailer shouldn't be telling you , we'll help you if DSA will help us. It puts all the burden on you to have to go around them and to deal with DSA, which DSA will not do and is not their policy to do. That could be the reason DSA is not dealing with them anymore.

I hate to hear you are having these kind of problems. But as was stated earlier, you will probably have to get this resolved from the store where you purchased the tank. Even if it means going with a different brand tank.

I was planning on upgrading to a DSA105, operative word being "was". Deplorable customer treatment. Sorry for your plight and I will show my support by not buying a tank from DSA. Thanks for taking the time to post. Good luck!

Problem is i dont know why they stopped dealing with each other. Thst fish place seemed willing to work with DSA. DSA on the other totaly blew me off when i suggested calling TFP. DSA web site has 20 retailers listed in 100 miles from me. All are either out of business or no longer deal with them. I feel DSA was probably a hassle to deal with. That fish place is 100 miles from me. I went there because their price was 300 cheaper for tank and stand. And wanted to see store. Probably cause they had like 20 DSA tanks displayd. The other store was prob wrapping their part of shipping in price. And would have been like 2 week wait. But besides all that. I probably repair it myself. Im aslo getting a quote for a custom made tank same dimensions. From a local manufacturer. External overflow. But their $$$. And 8 week lead time. I think the tank would last that long. But that is the only rimless off the shelf tank with that dimensions. I kinda know im going to eat the cost or do the repair. But i figure id let people know who their dealing with. Or what their going to deal with if they buy their tanks and have problems. And it makes me feel a little better if i cost them a sale or 2. Really dreading any option though.
