New Fish - cute little gal

Just kidding about being little. This is one of the biggest queen triggers I've EVER seen. I'm not brave enough to get my fingers close enough to measure her, but she's between 16-19" long, 10" top to bottom and 3" thick. I tried to measure her when I had her in the transport container but she became vicious when my hands got too close. I adopted her this past weekend. She is the most beautiful fish. Within the last few days her colors have become even more vibrant. The pics are just after being added to the tank. She has a 150g all to herself. I will upgrade to a much larger tank in the near future.

P.S. - Believe it or not she was in a 55g tank when I picked her up from Louisville. She couldn't even turn around.

I can't fool you guys, lol. No, carb, unfortunately at her size she must be kept alone as a single species - a wet pet. She is seriously ferocious. You should see her teeth. When the queen triggers are small they can be kept with other aggressive fish, but as they get bigger, usually around the 7" mark, they will do a Jekyll and Hyde transformation and wipe out all of its tankmates. She has tons of personality though.

You have a bigger heart than I! I have 2 dwarf puffers in a planted FW tank that I wish I no longer had. They are cool fish and I sort of feel responsible to them so I keep the tank going and take care of them the best I can, but it is only a 10G FW tank. If the tank was larger and they needed more tending, I don't know that I could/would keep up with them.

So my hat is off to you for keeping such a large tank up for a single inhabitant.

I think I like this fish more everyday. She is so cool and has so much personality. I think it is more like a dog than a fish.

If you felt you didn't want/could take care of her any longer. Would a large public aquarium take such fish? I often wondered what happed to fish that out grow tanks.

Not sure but we found a home for a black tip reef shark for Fuji last year after Lester Rainse decided the shark had to go. We managed to get Newport to come in and rescue the shark so I think you can at least try if you get one that's getting to big.

I don't know of a King Trigger Joy, there are both M & F Triggers. In my other tank I have a 6.5" clown trigger, 7" pinktail trigger and a 1" picasso. I love triggers, they are very active fish.

LTPiper, the pictures honestly don't do her justice. You should see her in person.

There is a guy on the FO&Agressive section on RC who has a 13 year old Queen Trigger and I don't think it is as big as mine. It has been in captivity that long, under the care of the same person. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/s...rpage=25&highlight=queen trigger&pagenumber=2

Jason she's beautiful. I can't believe somebody was keeping her in a 55.
I'm sure she thinks her new home is fish heaven. Wonder how many times the guy with the 13 yo queen has upgraded to keep her happy?

LOL yeh I think it was, honestly I can't remember at this point that's why I video taped the whole thing but that worked out great too as I lost the DVD. All I can remember for sure is that that shark was way underweight.
