Chris, thanks, yeah I am a little excited about the rock beauty. I know they can be aggressive though, well see how it goes. I still want a doctorfish tang though.
Jason, it is definitely a queen. I know my angels (especially the holocanthus and pomocanthus)
Dan, so what are you getting today? Haha. Yeah, rock beauties are gorgeous, juvi and adult. I can't wait until he gets some orange and blue in his fins. I am just worried about aggression and was very surprised when I opened the box.
Brandon and Matthew, thanks! I'll definitely keep an update! Matthew, when are you getting your queen?
fender, yeah it sucks I didn't get the tang, but I can always get that later one. The rock beauty is pretty cool, gorgeous little fish. I hope I don't get jinxed, I've had enough bad luck!
kirkaz, yep definitely a queen! My favorite angel!
Nutom, thanks I love adult french angels! I will be starting treatment of prazipro and cupramine on sunday. I want them to be eating healthy first.
Rocky, yeah I have seen 6-8" brazilian queens at my LFS for $200. I have been tempted to get one and keep it with my brothers passer angel, but I love watching the juvis grow and transform.
yukon, thanks! No, I am not going the caribbean biotope, although I have thought about it. I have a brazillian dragon moray and red sea klunzinger wrasse in another QT tank. I also plan to add a trio of flame angels, eventually a pair of bannerfish, pair of bluethroat triggers, harlequin tusk and some tangs, of course I will be upgrading, but most fish will be purchased small. Doubt I will get all those fish before I upgrade.
regina, thank you!
HOBrien, thanks! Wow! a 3.5" male bluethroat! I wish I could find a pair that size! That would be perfect! I love getting little fish and watching them grow! Be sure to post pics of your new additions! Goodluck with the angels!
Salty, yep the guy in florida, after many emails and a long drawn out process, I finally got them, minus the tang, plus the beauty
dan, yeah the french is top dawg for now. I am scared to add the trio of flames to them when everyone is in the 210g. These angels are just too tiny! I may try a pair of bannerfish first, since they are docile.
Ok, well here is an update. I tried feeding the little guys an emerald entree mix (has many different types of foods, very good mix) and of all the angels, only the rock beauty showed interest! I thought they were finicky eaters and don't do well in captivity? My french seems to be top dog, but no aggression so far. If either the queen or mostly the beauty swim across the tank, he loves to follow, not chase, but follow, its pretty funny.
So what else should I try feeding them? I added garlic to the mix, also put in an algae sheet. I know baby angels eat mostly algae when young, sponges when older. I know I also need to give it time, I barely have had them 9 hours now! Hopefully they eat soon, and often, since baby fish should eat multiple feedings per day.
