New frags, tips on unfragging and refragging ?

Getting my first frags into my qt tank and some of them came on frag plugs, ricordeas came on small rock.
Already found some pests, bristleworm (not for me), some other tiny strange polyps on rock.
I think I'm gonna get into habit of taking off all of them off frag plugs and putting on new ones.
Could use some pointers, how and what to buy. I have wet tile saw so cutting shouldn't be a problem, just don't know how close to frag plug to cut.
Ricordeas seem to be bigger problem as they come on rocks.

Most frags on plugs are held there by a couple drops of SuperGlue Gel. They will just pop off.

All you need is some new plugs and SG Gel - the stuff from the $1 store works as well as any name brand. I use travertine tile from HD/Lowes - the mosaic style will get you well over 100 plugs on a 12x12 tile. Just peel them off as needed. I don't worry about the glue on the bottom.

And fwiw - bristle worms are a vital part of your CUC. If you happen to get too many, cut back on the feedings and they will dwindle down in numbers.

I would skip the new frag plugs etc all together and glue them into your rockwork or a piece of rock that you can place to blend with your rockwork.

I like to leave mine on plugs so that I can gradually move them up to where I want them without bleaching them out from the lights. Once they are in a happy spot, off the plugs they go.

At that point, I switch to a combination of JB Waterweld and SG gel. A small amount of WW to the rock, and a small amount at the base of the frag, then a drop or two of SG between the two. Works like a charm. The WW gets overgrown with coraline algae in short order

I forget most people have height, I run a 12" shallow reef not much room to play with there 250 PAR on the sand.

Yep exactly how I mount my corals, it's the best way IMO.
