New Gigantea

Received a new large tan gigantea from live aquaria on 3-17-2017. Out of the bag it was still inflated, had a tightly closed mouth and a sticky foot. After temp and drip acclimating, due to the initial appearance of good health, I placed him on the prepared place in my display tank. He gets good flow and lighting in this location and he has yet to move. He is rigid and has maintained a firm mouth and has deflated one time but it was VERY minimal only to expell waste. He immediately re inflated and has been doing good. My concern is he does seem possibly bleached however it's base and mouth still have a dark tannish color and the purple pattern underneath is bold and vibrant in color. It's foot is sticky and he has attached nicely into a hole/crevice in the rock however it's tentacles are not necessarily sticky. Are these great concerns or typical signs of a new addition? Am I panicking, lol

monitrr it. most likely u will need treatment. i got a mag from liveaquaria a while ago. the first week, it looked fine. after that, it needed treatment due to deflating daily.

IME bleached gigs had a higher rate of survival than ones that looked decent, then expelled dead zoox and slowly declined. Just keep an eye on it and have Cipro ready if it deflates.

He looks healthy but bleached. Just give him good condition and he should recover. How much light do you have him under?

180 tank with 2 165w 16,000k maxspect razor r420r fixtures. Gig is midrange in height of tank and I still have a large percentage of light left if I need to program the fixtures brighter. I bumped them up slightly.

Looks great. you should still get some cipro if you don't have any. Definitely a must have med if you're keeping mags and gigs.

IMO, this is an unusual color for Gigantea. I have seen column colors of yellow, green, blue , and purple but never reddish or tan in color.

Pretty strange. Maybe you'll end up with something great when it colors up.

Hard to see in the pic but it has the bright purple dots along the column as well. I'm definitely beginning to think its not a standard tan one.

Closer and clearer picture of the upper column with clear picture of the tentacles shape and close focus of the upper column would really help me ID this anemone. As it is, he looks like a Gigantea other than the color as stated. I really have not seen that many Gigantea in person, not like those that get to see anemones at wholesaler like phender or some reefers in LA.
