New Gigantea

Just picked this guy up 2 days ago. I couldn't believe how good it looked when I saw it just 2 hours after the shipment arrived. This is my first carpet/saddle type so I hope it goes well. I've had good luck with my BTA's over the past year and my RBTA is doing very well.

Anyway, by best shot at ID was Gigantea, but it was a toss up between that and Martensii. It's been in my tank for 20ish hours now.

Thanks guys. It looks slightly bleached because I used several flashes so I could drop my aperture for a good field depth. It is slightly darker, not much though.

My flow is a Tunze Turbelle 6060 (1600 gph) on the right side of my tank and a Seaswirl connected to an 1800 mag drive on the left side. In center I have the returns in the overflow connected to an 1800 mag. On the left of my tank I have a 24 gal nano fuge tied into the community tank.

My lighting is 2 400w PFO HQI pendants hanging from the ceiling and 200w of T5 actinic/10k. I'm sitting at about 11w per gal at the moment.

It's consistent at both ends. The Seaswirl oscillates and when it rotates to the right it collides with the Turbelle flow and creates a nice little bit of turbulence. I considered getting a wavebox or something but this seems to be working very well. What do you guys think?

Oh, here is a flashless photo. I don't like flashless because the bad focus and depth field are lost. Thanks for the comments guys

Hey if you got the funds, I would invest into a wavebox. They're a nice piece of equipment to own when you're keeping such high demanding animals that need an immense amount of flow such as your Gigantea. :)

i dont think the giganteas can get too much flow if it nice alternating flow like a wavebox

or a vortech with controller on pulse mode like a wave box.

the gigantea guys all reccomend "immense" flow

Cool, what is the better wave controller? I assume one that gradually increases and decreases powerhead output. I am only familiar with the Tunze unit and the Wavemaster. Please list others for me to look at. Thanks!

It looks very nice. I like the way it is holding its body especially.
IME, you can't feed them too much at first. After a while you can taper it back a bit, but right now I would feed something everyday.
