New Green Gig arrived

My iPhone takes terrible pics with the leds in my tank but this is a pic about 5 mins after it went in the tank with the white and blue LEDs on.

Pretty happy with this one. It was sticky and attached almost immediately . Mouth seems pretty well closed already. I turned the vortech off to give it some time to get well anchored. Planning to turn it back on when I get home from work this afternoon.

Nice looking specimen. Did you quarantine it at all?

No, it's the only anemone in this tank so I didn't see the point of putting it in QT. I'm going to see how it goes and I can pull it and treat it with cipro in QT if it does look good over the next couple days.

It's really beautiful

Thanks. I'm hoping I come home to it fully inflated and looking great. It's my first gig. I've had haddonis in the past but this is the first time for the gigs. I found a nice rock that is kind of L shaped so I'm hoping it likes tucking it's foot in the crevice.

Moved a little while I was at work. Mouth seems mostly closed. Not quite all the way yet. Turned the vortech back on. The mouth seemed to close more after that.

Looks like I spoke too soon on being optimistic. It looked amazing this morning when I woke up. I went to work and came home expecting it to be fully expanded and looking great but instead it was shriveled up and almost totally unattached from the rock. Put him in the treatment tank about an hour ago. Pretty surprised it turned so bad in 8 hrs.

Do you have a video of the flow you're giving it?

Not now. I have it in the qt. It was getting flow from an mp10 on reef crest mode with most of the flow hitting it after bouncing off the side of the tank. It was getting pretty decent flow but not getting totally blasted. Now I just have a koralia in the qt.

Guessing this isn't good. Looked great all day in the treatment tank but now it looks like this after the lights have been off for a few hours.

Looks like it closed - while not typical for gigs, I wouldn't worry about it too much if it is looking OK while the light is on.

Back to looking good this morning. The foot is still only half attaching though

Made it through its first day where I didn't see any deflations. The whole anemone is very sticky, but the foot still doesn't want to attach. It mostly stays in place now because of the stickyness of the underside of the disc. Aside from that it seems to keep a closed mouth and looks to be in pretty good shape. It looks pretty identical to the last pic I posted now. My LEDs for the QT arrived yesterday and it seemed to immediately perk up when those replaced the little clamp on light I had been using.

Take it out of the bowl and see if it attaches to the tank. Sometimes gigs like flow around their foot. It'll also makes it easier to remove anything that collects under the nem. Acclimating gigs often times slough off what looks like dead skin, like when a snake sheds. This can be removed with a turkey baster.

I tried that last night for a couple hours. I turned the flow off to give it a chance to attach but when I turned the flow back on it started floating around. I'll try again tonight. Hopefully the better lighting will make it want to attach.
