New Hydor pump

finally got my 4s up and running in my 125. IMO two would be good for a 90 btw. So far I like these pumps a lot, i did not have any troulbe having the magnets hold on the walls of my tank. They have a really wide flow pattern and do push out a lot of water.

any more pics of the pumps in folks tanks? still trying to get a sense of the size compared to the seios and nanostreams and how intrusive/non-intrusive they look..

Im about to order some of these but I dont know which ones to get for my 75g. I want two pumps. I have leathers, polyps, anenome and stuff that gets blown around real easliy, so I would need something thats not too strong but strong enough to push water from one end to the other. Any suggestions?

I put a couple of 3's into my 75g mixed reef and quickly took one off because it was a lot more activity than the tank was used to with my two mj1200w/Hydorflos. Now after a couple of days with one Hydor 3 and the mj1200, everything seems to have settled in and I like the random patterns I get. Can't decide if I want to return the other Hydor 3 or try introducing it again.

bump for anyone who has these isntalled in some smaller tanks, maybe 20-40g. wondering what pumps you chose and if its too much flow.

so two Hydor3's was too much for a 75g?

I think it depends on what you have and how much you like things waving around. In my case, I only had a split return from a Mag 7 in my sump and the two MJ's with Hydorflos which cut the output and provided a light randow flow, so added 1700gph at once was a big change. My anemone is facing a direction that made it difficult for me to place the second Hydor without beating it up, so it withdrew into the rockwork and sulked. It took a couple of days for the anemone to get used to the flow from just one, but now it's back to full extension. The fish(Yellow tang, clownfish, chromis, Royal Gramma)were freaked out and hiding at first, but now frolic inches away from the output. It's a little like watching them surf. The polyps on my SPS are already more extended than I've ever seen them. I think my plan is to let the tank continue to settle in to the one and then try to find an angle that'll work for the anemone because I really like these pumps.

seio's are abundant on the for sale fourms lately! wonder if this pump has anything to do with that?

More like SEIOs are available for sale because they are crap. Especially in light of the fact that there are now so many other options to choose from. People used to go the SEIO route instead of the Tunze due to cost, but this just isn't true anymore

Now you have MJmods, Tunze nano, Hydor Korallia, and now this to choose from http://cgi.ebay.com/RESUN-WAVE-MAKE...ryZ46312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the Resun's look really nice, approx 4000gph on the BIG version, also they run DC motors which means we should have no problem running them on controllers or making them into waveboxes w/ the right controller.

hah i noticed after i posted. but you'd need a quicker controller for the ability to make a wave box. I think there numbers are a little skewed as far as what they off, a ~600gph, then a ~2000gph and then a ~4000gph. thats a big jump between 600 and 2000 imo.

What is everyone using to control these? I just ordered two K2's to replace some maxijets in my tank.

Here is picture of Resun, about 5.5" long. beer bottle is for size reference, also oem 110v adaptor, it can be swiveled and tilted.

random question and kinda off topic, but this is the only thread i've found which has some stuff that sounds positive about the resun brand (or anything about the resun brand at all..).

saw that people are using resun chillers in singapore, wondering if anyone knew anything more about the resun brand and are they good only for these powerheads but not other things (are they related to jebo?)?

not that being bad at something doesn't mean being good at other things (ie - maxijet powerheads and seaclone skimmers are made by same company..). just wondering as the resun chillers seem pretty cheap compared to other brands around.. anyone know?

btw, nice pics with ruler and beer bottle reference quangtam, put up some more when they go in your tank.. looks very promising..

tried to compare a soda can with my seios, seems about the same size as an 1100, little bigger than a 820, am i mistaken or is the hydor koralia 4 about a seio 1100 size?
