New Hydor pump

we need a resun thread. it looks a little more promising than the koralias with that controller it comes with.

I've seen some conflicting opinions on how many of each pump for a 90. Some say two 3s some say two 4s. I have a SSB (inch, maybe inch and a half) and only softies and LPS. I don't really plan on SPS, but I didn't plan to move past a 20g tank either. :) I don't mind paying the extra $$ for a 4 over a 3, but I don't want to wreak havoc on my corals either.

I just put two 3's on my 90 gal and I'm still working on where they should go. Glad I didn't get 4's but I may want to do another 3 in the future.
I went from 4 maxi 12's and am not sorry. Tank temp went down about 3 degrees.
Hope this helps.

so maybe 2 3's instead of 4's for my 90? is ANYONE controlling these effectively? does anyone have pics of these in there tanks?

Got my new 4's in the 125. The flow is not nearly as much as the maxijet 1200 mods, but the flow is much wider and the pumps are noticeable quieter. I had 2 mjmods (hi flow) in before, and felt like that was too much. Couldn't keep the sand to stay on the bottom. I think that 3 4's could be the sweet spot on my 125, but I still have to fire up my spray bar return, and that could make the difference. All in all, very happy with the product. Would definitely recommend and do again.

random question and kinda off topic, but this is the only thread i've found which has some stuff that sounds positive about the resun brand (or anything about the resun brand at all..).

saw that people are using resun chillers in singapore, wondering if anyone knew anything more about the resun brand and are they good only for these powerheads but not other things (are they related to jebo?)?

not that being bad at something doesn't mean being good at other things (ie - maxijet powerheads and seaclone skimmers are made by same company..). just wondering as the resun chillers seem pretty cheap compared to other brands around.. anyone know?

Resun actually makes fairly decent equipment. And no they are not related to Jebo otyher than they are a Chinese company. Then again most of the equipment we use in this hobby is made in China (even if the label doesn't say so)

Two 3s in my 50 gallon (36x18x18) and wow!

I'd love to have a controller..........??

Surprisingly well made for the money - while materials resemble a $39 pump, I have plenty of confidence these will work whenever they're plugged in.

These Hydors seem to be a nice evolution from the jet pumps - nice wide, gentle flow and plenty of it - and quiet to boot.

If they are accurate, the electricity draw is miserly and the heat produced should be minimal.

If anyone knows of a good controller, please post it.

Good news i just bought 2- of the 4's for my 125 i just setup this weekend. Bought 2 seio 2600 with a controller also so im going to mess around with them this weekend and see what kind of flow i can come up with.Im going to try the seio controller on the 4's as well. Any reason why i shouldnt try the controller on these pumps? Id hate to mess them up.

For those with 90's are you putting them in the corners blowing towards the middle?
Thats what I was planning and was wondering what size anyone else is using. I was debating on either the 2s or 3s.

I just put in my 400gph ones in my 30 gal tank and I'm not all that pleased with the water movement......I may have to get a 600gph to add to it....
