New Hydor pump

Koralia 1

Koralia 1

I agree. I got 2 400's and they're nice for areas where you don't want excessive flow. They do produce a nice water spread, just not very powerful. They are however, extremely quiet and not as large as I thought they would be. For what I paid they're worth the money.

For those with 90's are you putting them in the corners blowing towards the middle?
Thats what I was planning and was wondering what size anyone else is using. I was debating on either the 2s or 3s.

I have 2- 3's on a 90. They are in the corners blowing towards the center.I wouldn't want fours but I might do another 3 in the center just to stir things up a bit.

So can these pumps be put on a controller..

??????

No one knows for sure because they don't come with a controller and hydor does not make a controller for them. The seio would probably be your best bet. Someone just needs to try it and post a response. I don't think they are designed to work with controllers that cycle them completely on and off reapidly.

could do something more simple like timers. left one on eight hours , right one on eight hours , both on eight hours .

This limits the ware on the pump verses the typical 30 second on/off and makes sure that the water current isn't the same 24/7

Got a pair of the three's. Great water movement but a little noisy.

Have you used maxi-mods or Seios before? I am interested in comparing the noises. The only reason I don't like my maxi-mods and seios is they are noisier than I would like.

From what I have seen so far, the hydor is a nice addition but it doesn't blow me away. Its great that more companies are making these devices.

I hope Hydor can make a new version that is more compact and have more flow that can be run on a wave maker and is much cheaper than the Tunze. When that happen then we got something special. But until then, I'll wait.

My MJ1200 prpeller mods and mj1200 hacksaw mods are doing a fine job in my 210 so far.

I'm sure these pumps will capture a fair share of the market without your support. :) Of course, who wouldn't want the perfect pump for far less than the closest competition??

Cheers,
John

What size would you get for a 29g? I would be getting two of whichever size i decide to go with but am unsure if I should go with the 1, 2 or 3 models and would like the opinions of anyone who has a similar sized tank with these new Hydor pumps. Thanks!!!

I just got two of the 3 model today and took out 2 900 maxijets. I can really tell the difference in my 125. I put them at each end of the tank. The flow and the disruption in the tank is very noticeable now. I like them. I will check back in later.

Oh without a doubt, and I hope hydor will do well because this is good for this hobby

I just got 2 model 4's for my LPS dominated 72g bowfront. I am impressed with the amount of flow these pumps put out. Except on startup there is no noise at all. It’s about the same noise level as my Seio 820 when starting up.

I'll post pics tomorrow night. It only sticks out maybe 1/2 further than my old Seio.

beeker77, thanks for the in-tank pics, i have a 75 gallon that looks similar to yours in dimension (~4 foot) and your two korolia 4's look similar in size to my seios, and not as overwhelming to the tank as i originally feared. what seios did you have in the tank before that you said the k4's were only 1/2" longer? just trying to get a sense again as i have both an 1100 and an 820 for reference.

also, i notice that you have a sandbed that doesn't seem to be stirred up that much, even with 2x1200gph at the top.. so sounds like good flow without having to have a BB.. your thoughts?
