I guess I am the second on here to use these powerheads. They just arrived from Doc Fosters and are in my tank. The took the place of 2 Aquaclear 70's with those huge frickin filters. Although "big" they do not look bad in my tank. I have two of the 4's
Pros:
cost
prop design
large h20 movement
Can adjust direction very easy
low watts
Cons:
Cheaply made
front is open. If run on "wave maker" fish could end up in the blades during pause.
Magnets very weak. I have a 120 and they barely hold.

So the magnets hardly hold on your 120 huh? I'm intersted to hear more about this....
I don't think they will fall but any glass thicker i would probably worry abit.
With open front end, could you place a screen like the one used on the AGA overflow mods (if you know whatt I'm talking about) to help out here?
Maaybe but the shape is like a torpedo so forming something might be a pain.
The major feature that interests me on these pumps is the adjustability. On a scale from 1-10, how would you rate it?
10 but will be interested to see how long they hold their tension. They rotate around on a ball socket but there is no way to tighten. Probably won't be an issue but again just a thought.

Well, I'm kind of there and kind of not... I'm a bit of a 4th year med student/nomad. I was only there for a few months for my 4th year and I've been spending a lot of time in NC and some time in the Richmond area.
I do have to go back for a few more rotations in the upcoming months. C'ville is a great place though to live and raise the kids. Don't have any kids, but that's what I hear. Hehe
When where you there horstman?
Peace,
John H.

File fixed.
I am not having any problems with the 4's being able to hold with the magnet.
