i always lay down a piece of acrylic between my rocks and the tank bottom. Perhaps it is unnecessary, but it can't do any harm. I worry about rocks 'point loading' at certain spots on the bottom glass.
Don't underestimate the power of the Pukani's PO4 ... I can guarantee you it is leaching PO4 into the system if you didn't cure/soak it beforehand
well it's been 3 months and my phosphates just tested at 0.04 ppm so that's not to bad.

Hello Buddy
where did you order your Lee Mar from? I would like to order one too? Please let me know. Your tank looks like a piece of art man.
I want to order, whom did you get your quote through?
thanks
I have had acrylic tanks my whole life and recently I'm getting sick of it. I would rather have a Lee Mar. I have crazing, pitting of acrylic from coralline algae + scratches.
I'm going to be a convert.
I already bought a brand new acrylic 3/4" 225 gallon tank, but planning on selling it(I know I will lose some money but that's ok). After see your tank I want it. I want a Lee Mar.
Also, I have a question for you. Recently people where complaining about Lee Mar's finish and quality. How did your tank come out? finish wise
second question. Why did you prefer with euro bracing vs rimless? I don't know what the pros and cons are but the rimless look sleek. But in CA it may not be a good idea?
I also want Lee Mar frag tank built 72" X 24" X 12". Can I go rimless on this guys?
Any thoughts, ideas and help would be appreciated. Because I'm a new convert from acrylic to glass, my knowledge in the glass world is very limited.
Please help me with your ideas and knowledge.
Thanks buddy
Hey, question on the "dry" rock. Did you cure it? I'm going with all Pukani in mine and there are a bunch of threads regarding cooking it before introducing it to established tanks.
Since I'll be starting fresh like you, wondering if that's necessary, or just cook it in the tank until phosphate levels are low enough before introducing anything. Curious how you did yours.
This too is my first glass tank (starfire glass) all my others have also been acrylic and boy do I love how easy it is to clean the glass.
I went with eurobracing because of the issue with splashing on rimless tanks
I think the rocks in the tank looks like BRS reef saver and not their pukani. Here is the thing. Pukani will leach enormous amount of Phosphates but not the reef saver, since it is cut from underground and not from the ocean floor where the pukani comes from.
So if you are buying pukani then you would want to get rid of the phosphates before putting it in your tank man.

What is the stain on your stand. never seen before, but looks amazing. Nothing flashy but so classy and elegant. How did you pick this? did they show you several stains and then you picked one?
let me know.
So here is the dimensions I'm ordering:
Tank 1:70" long x 24" wide x 12" high. Peninsula style rimless with 3 sides of star fire glass. This will be my show frag.
Tank 2: 72" long x 24" wide and 20" tall with euro bracing. 3 sides of starfire glass and black back. Either Bean animal overflow or Herbie overflow
What do you guys think?
Any thoughts?
Hello Campos, any thoughts or hints man? Also could you please tell me approximately how much did you pay for the tank and the stand man?
There is a LFS near my house in Milpitas where I'm getting my quote from.
Please campos, let me know the ballpark price for the tank as well as the stand. Also I have a question. I have my own stand. do you think it will work or I have to buy their stand as well. Because I have heard that they don't cover their 5 yr warranty if I don't use their stand. Is it true?
So campos, did you get black silicone or the clear one?
It is definitely going to leave a dent in my bank account and hope my wife never finds out. Always have to hide behind her back and spend for these things. lol
With the stain they told me what brand they use so we just went down to Orchard supply, because they use the same brand, and pick a color by looking at the color palette. It came out great I'm very happy with it.
I went with the black silicon and glad I did. I think it makes the tank look sexy, if that's possible. I think it looks great. Yes Leemar will only warranty the tank if you use their stand, at least that's what I was told. If you buy directly from Leemar I think they charge around $1250 for each. 1250 for the stand and 1250 for the tank. Now depending on who you use to buy the tank from will depend on how much they charge you to pick it up. I think Justin charged me a little over $1000 to get it and deliver it to the house and plumb it. I was also very happy with Justin's work.
100 pounds is reef saver and 100 pounds is pukani
Hey Campos
Thanks for all the info buddy. After communicating with you, I have made several awesome decisions man. Thanks for helping fellow reefers man. I was thinking of clear silicon but after seeing your comment I will go with Black one. And I think 1250 for tank is very very reasonable man. 1250 is really nothing when you look at what you get. One more question, how is your LED working for you? How is it comparable to MH? Do you see any difference? currently lot of my friends who switch from MH to LED go with Radion pro, or AI hydra 52 (I think other AI LEDS don't have some wavelengths that the coral needs--correct me if I'm wrong) or reefbreeders. In general I'm hesitant to go with LEDS. Lol
Ok what I don't understand is that ACRYLIC tanks cost around $3000 and a top class LEE MAR costs only 1250. Makes me wonder why ppl still buy the acrylic tank. Do you miss anything about acrylic tank man?
How are your corals coping with the LEDS buddy?
You have a piece of living art man, and I will get one and set it up before the end of this summer. Right now I have a crap class tank. I want it out of my house soon, and I'm surprised about the fact that so many people are interested in buying my crap class tank. lol. One man's crap is another's gold piece I guess
Once again tankyou so much for sharing your set and tank photos man. It gave me ideas.
Got you man. well, you must be doing something right(like cycling), because a number of people on the thread about BRS pukani complained that they had bryopsis, and all kinds of algae due to phosphate spike. I'm glad you got away without any trouble man.
I think the reef saver seems to not have the phosphate spike issue.
Sorry about lot of questions, but I have one more important question: How did you cycle your tank could you please shed some light? I will be cycling mine soon after I get my Lee Mar.
Thanks for letting me know
