New Lfs?

The store is coming along. He has had some major setbacks lately--chiller malfunction caused a major flood--causing loss of some high-end fish. He said he had hoped to open next week, but not now.

It is going to be very cool--3 very large tanks--one for softies, one for lps, one for sps that make 3 "walls" (U - Shaped) at the back of the store--you can stand in the middle of them and be surrounded on three sides by huge tanks. Then there's another huge display tank and lots of smaller ones. Looks like it's gonna be a great store.
 
I had been telling Marty's wife for some time now that I was going to make my way out to the new store one of these days, and today I finally made it. I spent close to an hour and a half at Planet Reef today, speaking with Marty and Steve. It became very obvious why there have been delays in getting the place opened for business. Marty and Steve have very distinct goals in mind for this store which are much more involved than just throwing some fish and corals in some tanks and putting the open sign up. If they reach the goals they're aiming for, this is sure to be one heck of an operation once it's up and in full swing. I offered to do up a story for them to have in the next edition of The Wave, even take some pics since I had my camera with me, but he said he wanted to wait until everything looked really good and then he'd talk to me and have pics done. I promised I wouldn't go into details of everything I saw today, but it was very impressive and I can appreciate the magnitude of everything they're trying to pull together there. It looks as though it's really going to be worth the wait. I hope things go well for them and I look forward to this place as it starts to come all together. :cool:
 
Well, I hope you haven't actually started the trip yet because, no, I don't think it would be worth THAT wait. ;)

I know they hope to open very soon provided they don't have any more setbacks. But based on what I saw and what I discussed with Marty, this place will continue to grow and evolve for many months to come. Even if I never bought anything from them, it's going to be interesting just watching how things turn out with it.
 
I hope they let us know when they open up, instead of opening up and nobody knowing anything about it.
 
I know he told me he'd tell his wife and she'd relay it to me at work, but I guess we'll see. Not like I'm holding him to anything. :lol: Totally up to the two of them how they handle things, but I know they plan on making at least a little noise, along with a few goodies. ;)
 
I know I saw a flat screen hanging from the ceiling. Maybe they'll show cool 80's music videos while we shop. :D
 
When I talked with Marty last, he said he was looking at a couple of weeks, provided they didn't have any more significant setbacks. "A couple more weeks" from then would be looking at this weekend as a possibility. Could be? ;)
 
Ok, here's the official word just given to me....

Opening day is slated to be this Saturday, 4/7/07, with hours running from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.


Please attend in an orderly manner. :cool:
