New Life After Death

I had purchased a beautiful small pearl bubble coral, and for whatever reason, did not make it.

However, I never throw the skeletons away, and just leave them in the tank. Well, after moving things around, and about 4 months later, I found a small baby bubble coral growing on one of the blades from the dead coral. While looking at it, I can see the "bubbles" moving with the flow in the water. It was a nice surprise needless to say.

Here is a pic and it is the "star" shaped item on the blade of the dead coral.

Rebirth! LOL. This same exact thing happened to my cynarina coral. I thought for sure it was a gonner and banished it to a corner. No more than 3 months later I see pretty much the exact same thing you got. Now I have a full coral again.

Anyone think I should break it off, and glue it to a plug or rock?

I also have another bubble coral that has grown babies, on blades that it retracted from. I will start another thread and post pics on it.

Now that is neat! It does not quite match the feat of my striped 'shrooms in returning from the dead after nearly a year and a half but..
That is something I wished had never happened.
At any rate, I to save the skeletons of corals that did not make it. You just never know, plus it adds to the LR in the tank. Maybe someday I'll see something like this in one of my hard corals.

Sincerely,
Matthew

A little update on this.

Is this baby a plate or bubble coral? The bubble coral skeleton was a green bubble too.

Here is an update of the guy -

Here is a plate coral that was in the tank for a short time -

It's incredible huh? I have a hammer coral that was dead to rights - I mean skeleton showing with no flesh dead to rights - so I put some green and orange zoanthids over it. Now, I have about a 4 inch hammer competing with the zoanthids. It's a hybrid. Love it.

Yes it is credible. I am ansy as to what it is, either a bubble or plate coral. Only time will tell. Once I know for sure, I will post back.

I actually have three more growing in the tank, that are pink bubble corals. Here is a pic of one set of them. There are two growing side by side on the frag plug/plate.
