New light question

Need to know the best way to get rid of ants from my rocks. Washed them with a yard hose, (90%), washed with Hydrogen Peroxide, (no help). there sitting in a tub with a gallon of Peroxide, should I add saltwater? Bleach? or simple ant spray but deffinatly want to remove that somehow.

I would think fully submerging them with freshwater for several hours would do the trick. Roll them around to get all the air bubbles out and wait. Don't use pestiside, that will just ruin your rock.

Having a little problem. This 'over thinking this" thing has got me just little bit lost. Cleaned out my sump: Rocks sitting in sw, sand in tubs, and removed the 2 partitions. The sand is from the beach, probably getting rid of that. I have a skimmer and return pump, and enough small, and tiny dry rock to fill it, 30gal. Got myself convinced that I need a sock, filter pad and filter media of some kind, and a GFO, Carbon reactor. Starting to think I dont need all that. Those reactors arent cheap. Then theres the DIY Algae scrubber, the kind with the long air stone and the red lights, Cheato, between 2 partitions, and/or a refugium. Having washed everything with a yard hose, my phosphates are probably going to be high, and so on, and so on.

Im stuck with where to put the partitions, and of course how many, and why.

I want a simple reef tank, couple clowns, a Bubble tip anemone (someday), a few pajama (fish), and a clean crew later as needed. If possible enough stuff to feed the fish by grazing, with small feedings by me, of course.

Side thought, wonder if I could add the BFR and carbon sections to my skimmer, one pump feeds the whole thing?

Not sure if it matters but I donā€™t run a sock or any filter media unless I need to remove something from the water (like assisting with clearing after a water change). I donā€™t run carbon (unless needed) an algae scrubber or GFO either. I do have some Cheato though.

As for the pump split? I have no idea on that.

I was thinking about cutting the skimmer apart just above the entrance from the pump and adding a section for a gfo reactor. Just need to know if the air bubbles will effect it, good or bad. Maybe I should put a section on the return instead.
