Hey guys, Just picked up an open Brain?
Actually im hopeing you guys can tell me what exactly it is, scientific name would be appreciated.
Im guessing its an Open Brain,Wellsophyllia.

Do i have him to close to the light as well ?
He's about 10 inch's away from a 150 watt 14000k MH.
 
Trachyphyllia geoffroy.

Formerly known as Wellsophyllia- the two genera have been combined to 1 monospecific genus ;)

It would still appreciate being on the sand though- they like to spread way out, without the danger of damaging tissue on rockwork.
 
I agree with Trachyphyllia geoffroy. I have one that looks very similar. It seems to prefer low, indirect flow and moderate lighting, and to be on the bottom.
 
Wellsophyllia = Trachyphyllia radiata, not geofyri BTW. Whatever it is, its pretty. Nice find..

AFAIK, T. radiata is now considered invalid. Its a monospecific genus- just T. geoffroy. Looks good whatever it is.
 
Oh, well things move fast in Taxonomy. I'll still call mine T. radiata regardless as it looks quite a bit different. The lumpers strike again! Of course, next year it will be revived.. LOL.
