Sounds good, so mini's instead of the full size option would be adequate. From what I read, they are so good 250 compare to other brands 400K. I think it was like $5. more for full size. Are the full size a better option than the mini's or would it defract the light more.

The minis will direct more light within the tank. The larges will be hard to cram them into a canopy the size of your tank and the larges will bleed more light outside of the tank. I have the same size tank and couldn't be happier with my lighting setup.

Do you have the mini's JRaquatics?
I think if I went with the larger ones I would overhang my eurobracing by 1" each side.

Ok, my rock work is only about 8-10 inches wide at the top and 19 inches wide at the bottom (32 inch deep tank) You don't think the mini's would work for me?

Sounds like the minis will work fine - how wide is the tank? (sorry if I missed it in an earlier post). Your setup rock wise sounds a lot like mine. Take a look at my DFWMAS link on the page prior to this one. On page 3 of the DFWMAS link you will find a sketch of my lights using the mini's with a cross section of the intended light diffusion over and around rocks.

With your tank dimentions you are better off with the larges. This will allow for the correct light spread leaving no dark areas. For the $5 extra a reflector I would really consider the Larges. Yes your rockwork is 8-10 wide but if your into SPS they always grow outwards so now your looking at 15+ inches at the top and 25+ inches at the bottom. I just think you and your reef would be happier with the LB larges IMO.

I did check that out, nice tank! The rockwork is very similar to mine. My tank is 30 inches wide. But that includes the glass which is 3/4" I have about 5-6 inches of open gravel from the glass to were the rockwork starts. I didn't know those were the mini's. Are the DE mini's the same diamensions as the SE mini's?
I really like my DE Giesmann 14.5K bulbs so I would rather not go through changing over my ballasts to get the SE larger LB reflectors.
Also having the glass on the DE reflectors makes for easy cleaning.

How high off the water do you have your LB's mounted? (distance from water surface to top of reflector)

I think the DE lumabrights are only one size, 16X16X9. The large SE are like 20" and would have overhung my euro bracing. On a 30" wide tank I'd go with the larger ones to get the spread like JR indicates, that is, unless you plan to mount them real high.

If you go with the DE you're ending up with about the same size as the SE mini's (16X16X7). They also run a bit more $, I think it's because they come with the glass cover. I may be wrong as I didn't look into the DE's that much.

I think the bulb is about 12" above my water surface, so the tops are about 14". I'm getting great penetration and hardly any spill over light so I'll probably leave them there.

I ordered my lighting setup from Reef Specialty today, and Mike is a great guy to deal with. I cant wait until they arrive.

Here's what I ordered: Lumenbright Mini, Reeflux 12k 250w, Coralvue Ballast x3 of everything. This is for a 180g Reef.

I will post pictures as soon as they are installed.

I got another pendent from mike for my nano...
What do you think 18"x18"x18" cube with a 250w radium and a lumen bright fixture.... :)

Sounds like a super lit up nano. I hope your nano's fish have shades.

i have no idea what height i will have it at, but i have a a 1/10 hp chiller installed already... so cooling should be safe...ballast is coming tm which is a IC...

I have a question. I have a 300g measurements are 96 long X 30" front to back X 24" tall. Do you think 4 large lumenbrights about 16" off the water would do good. I have 250watt ballast if that helps

yep - I would think that setup would give plenty of coverage

I hope so I just order the refelctors and bulbs in. I am going to run reeflux 10k at first then after the corals grow out some switch to 12k or 20k

1. What is the cut-off width above which Lumenarcs are recommended? I'm having a 96Lx36Wx25H tank being built. Would the Lumenbrights be recommended or is 36" wide too wide for those?

2. As of now, I'm thinking of 4 Lumenarcs and 4 x 400W Icecaps and 4 x 400w Ushio 20k, with no supplemental actinic. How does that sound?

Thanks in advance,
Los

That is a good question, I should maybe consider getting 4 lumenarc mini's for DE bulbs instead. I know I may loose the depth punch of the LB but my PFO mini pendants do a great job as is getting deep in the tank. Also the LA would be closer to the water than the LB so I would wouldn't loose as much PAR.
