So far I like this lens for it's sharpnes and light weght, a whole light lighter than my 105mm Sigma.

And, one of topic shot, if you don't mind. :) A view from my shore condo at about 6:30 am.

lol- you musta heard me thinkin about you Gene- this morning it occurred to me that you haven't posted in a while- or at least I hadn't seen the posts :p
Nice shots for sure, although they have a bit of a magenta cast on my screen. Could be my monitor is messed up though- I've been having some color issues lately

Same on my screen, very magenta'ish. What didn't you like about the Sigma? It was between that and the 100mm Canon for me and I bought the Canon today. I can't wait until it shows up :) Nice looking pics though!

Hi Greg,

Yeah, I've been MIA for a spell since my 75 sps tank had nothing but death in it. Don't ask me why because I don;t know. :(

Magenta cast( in aquarium shots) could be from the exessive coralline growth. Yeah, that is still alive... :D On my screen the images look pink-ish, if anything.

What didn't you like about the Sigma?

I never said I didn;t like my Sigma macro lens. Personally I think for the money it performes rather well, I just said that it was really heavy for me to shoot hand held is all. With this new lens I have no problem holding the camera motionless. ;)
All in all, I think this new lens is a keeper and in I need a closer shots I will have to zoom with my legs....

Oh, almost forgot, Greg. Thanks again for the advise on the lenses for my vacation trip to the Caymans.
Here are some images from the trip, didn;t take my camera on the trip to see and play with the Stingrays but it's better than nothing. :D

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Grand Cayman and it was really first class. The suit was out of this world, I think it was bigger than my condo down the shore, which is roughly 1700 sq.ft. :eek2: Simply amazing hotel.

Yep... looks like paradise :p Glad you had a nice vacation and so sorry to hear about the bad luck with your 75g tank. This hobby is not easy is it...

Thanks, Greg! :) It was definately a paradise, if such thing exist...

This hobby is certainly not easy, like you said, having experienced success that I had with that tank made me wonder about many things... One being that maybe it was time for me to leave this hobby for a while...Thankfully, I had many friends that told me it would be a bad move and that I could do other things to help others. Like share what I had learn and all that...

:D

Don't get out of the hobby!! We need you :D
I've felt the frustration this hobby, especially keeping acros, can dish out... it can be brutal. But even if I only had a fowlr I'd still have a tank... even if it were a little bitty nano :p

Thanks for your kind thoughts,Greg. :)

No, I am staying and will try to rebuil that tank minus the acroporas, at least for a while. :D
I still have my anemone tank and that alone can keep you busy and challenged, too...
Nano? Maybe in the future when I move down the shore for good.

Here;s my 110g anemone tank..,how can I possibly leave it out of my life? :p

OMG...those RBTAs are huge. How old are they and what kind of lighting do they have?

BTW, I love those beach pictues.

Thanks! :)

Those anemones are all and the same animal that been in my tank for almost 4 years. In that time it cloned many, many times.I have given some away but there are still roughly 30 of them in there. :D
As far as lighting is concerned, I always had 2 250w MH plus actinic vho's over that tank, untill about 4 month ago when the fixture burned out and I had to replace it. Curently the tank lit with 2 150W DE MH bulbs and VHO's. I don't believe this anemones skipped a bit and continued to clone and grow. I do feed them about two times a week with silversides(3-4 whole fish each, depending on the size of the animal). This may be argued as being exessive but why fix something that ain't broken? ;)

That is just amazing. I would buy one of those from you in a heartbeat. Seriously.

You need to start a thread in the forum "anemones and clownfish."

Wow! That is a lot of food- no wonder they're so happy :p
Your photo is amazing- that whole tank is amazing.

My clownfishes would have a heart attack just by looking at that picture. :D
Yes they would. Mine would get lost in that tank. HAha.

Thats probably the last safe spot for it to go to. Haha.
It seems like the anemones are going to have a special snack of yellowsides soon.

I wonder where the clowns are? But that tang...sheesh man. It must be tricky to sleep in that tank.
