New Magnifica

I just got a new magnifica in yesterday and I have a few questions. Its mouth is still open a little bit and I'm not sure its from my lights or my clowns. I have a screen on my tank and only running 4 t5 lights instead of 6 for now so I don't really think lighting is the problem. Also my clowns took a liking to it about 4 hours or so after introducing it to the tank. The main problem is there is no way I could catch the clowns if they were the source of the stress. Any advice on what I should try to do?

It it doesn't deflates, I would leave the clowns be. Don't feed the anemone for a few days. Then only feed him a small amount if he looks good for 5-7 days continuously. I don't decrease light when I put new Mag into my tank. I just blast the anemone full of light like what I want him to be under after fully established. Good luck with him. They are very beautiful and rewarding animal to keep especially with a pair of clowns. Please post pictures.

It has only deflated once but since it has been looking pretty good. Is it common for its mouth to stay open for a day or so? Its mouth is barely open compared to when I first got.

Here is an iphone video of it.

Good luck! They can be difficult anemones. I find that once they start going downhill they go fast and it's hard to recover. I don't buy them anymore for this reason, but I also know once they are established they do really well.

But about your statement above, if you wait until the lights are off for about an hour, you can easily scoop the clowns out of the anemone while they sleep. I find clowns to be the easiest fishes to catch.

I tried turning my lights off earlier today and I caught the male clown but the female is the problem and it seems like she is always watching.:mad2:

Catch them with a clear glass container in the middle of the night. After several hrs of complete darkness, the clown will be very disoriented and cannot see anything when you use a flash light to spot them and scoop them out. The anemone tentacles will not stick to clean glass and you will have no problem with the anemone. From your video, you may need a little more flow for this Magnifica.
Your anemone seem OK, I would not remove the clowns

Yea I'm not going to. I always leave my 8 led lights on at night, for some reason my clowns freak out and swim everywhere when the lights are all off.

My magnificas mouth is still open. Is this anything to worry about or is it typical to be like that for a while? Its still looking just like the video though and I've turned on my other two t5 lights.

Well I thought I would post an update video. The nem has had a couple of episodes where it completely deflated and its mouth was wide open but for the last 3 days it has looked like the new updated video.
