Your gonna like this shrimp. I had a G. Smithii and It was the one of the most interesting mantis I had ever kept.

Hehe, that looks like the same type I have. Ive had him for about a week now I guess. I love reading how much people pay for their shrimp, when I got my LFS to call me when they found one and they just gave me it for free. Gotta love loving things considered as pests :P

There are probably two species of animals being identified as Gonodactylus smithii. Those that are dark green, fairly solid in color and come from Australia, Indonesia, etc. are probably G. smithii.. Those that come from the central Pacific - Fiji, Guam, etc. may be a different species. The have a lot more mottling to the body color with large light patches. The meral spot also seems a bit more maroon to me. Until we do the genetics, we probably won't know for sure how many species there are in this group.
