New Mantis Wenneras!?

We Just ordered 2 new mantid's from TBS. The were nicely priced at $10 a piece, and was able to get shipping down to $40 next day USPS.
They are both about 1.5-2 inches long. They first one has purple meral spots and we think may have an injured club... Not sure how big these guys get, but he seems young... I can't seem to get any pics of the other right now, he is hiding in a labryinth of tonga rock work...
But, Here is the one with the purple meral spots, the successor to Masta Shredda...:

Can anyone postively ID this guy?

My G. Smithii has purple and white meral spots, but his abdomen is black and red, not green like yours.

This is my 5 gallon tank, it used to house my peacock, but she has moved onto bigger and better places. I do not have a pic of this guy yet,BUT within 5 min of introduction, he was already whacking away at rocks and/or hermits, He immediately took garlic-saoked frozen Krill from a skewer! ...and as I am sitting here typing this, there was just some sort of lightning fast distubance in the tank... I also have a litle firefish in this 5 gal... we will have to see what happens, I would like to most the firefish, but nothing short of completely disassemlbig the tank will allow me to do that...

I do not have a full pic of the other wenneraes tank, it was just remodeled with a more spread out layout.

Yes, I can identify it - and as soon as I get my stomatopod identication and care site up, so will you. I've listed about 30 of the most commonly available stomatopods with photos of each and information on habitat, size, feeding behavior, temperature and other information that you should have to care for them. Yea that ciliata I just got will eat silverslides but doesn't seem to interested in the damsel or molly in there, dont know my though.

Mark just got back from the Keys with a load of rock. We were worried Rita had blown it away, the good news is it was still there........but you know the huge marker on Davis reef, just down from little Conch, is GONE!!

Nothing there and it was a huge marker! My friends house on the ocean in Islamorada had three feet of mud in it, Keys took a big hit from Rita.

Glad we have GPS now. I used to use that marker to triangulate on one of my study sites. I've always been amazed at how stable rock is once you get down a few feet. We are still finding pieces that we tagged 25 years ago in Panama.

I just got some pics of the wennerae! I think I am going to name her Natasha (I dont know the sex, but it I also named my female Peacock Boris...so..It should work out alright...) Natasha is loving the new tank! It has been set up for about 14-15 months, and is full of TONGA LR, with a plethora of litle crevices and tunnels! She keeps popping up at different spots, then ducking down, not to be seen aggain for a few mintues somewhere else! Hopefully after some time, she will become more social and stay in the open more. She immediatyl accepted krill upon introduction, I am now going to try a feed garlic scallops

Natasha Makes her first Kill! It is a little margirta snail (one of about 6 in the tank). I have fed her twice now with frozen food, First with vitamin enriched garlic and zoe soaked Krill, and second with Garlic and zoe soaked, Cyclopoeeze encrusted baby scallops! (A personal favorite of Boris my Peacock!) I think my mantid's eat better than I do!
Anyways, I come home today, to see that Natasha has finally found herself a cavity to call home! She has started excavation, and I guess took a mid afternoon lunchbreak with her new neighbor, the margirita snail, who doesn't look like he'll be making home tonight...

despite she is only about 1.5 inches, she packs a whallop! Quite loud from outside the tank, already cracked the whole edge of the shell, and not shy at all about me watching!

I just got home, and I think the Mr. Margirita actually was spared for dinner, missing some shell, but I think is still truckin' around! I dont think ol'e Natasha could break through the hard foot cover! better luck next time!

ryan you are a fish lovin freak and your mantis obsession is almost means for intervention. (I told you that after a while one just wouldn't hack it anymore). Thanks for helping me out with my mantis troubles after the traumatic death of master shredder... I still have night terrors about his little spears of destruction and HE'S covering ME with household insecticide. I think I'll be alright though now that I have Napolean to satiate my predatory needs. Lil' Napolean Smashapart isn't near as big as shredder but he is definitely a lot more vicious.

If you are refering to the full tank shot, the greenish branching thing is an old coral skeleton... it was doomed since the day I got it! Probably lasted about 2-3 months..
