New Marineland 300 DD Setup Log

Hey All,
I have been to busy with work the spring preparation , lawn, yard, pool all needs to be ready so this leaves little time for my reef except for water changes and tests and eve less to post or do much more than.
but i took some pictures of the corals and changed my lighting template to use the Radion`s Traditional Reef with slight modifications.

So here are some picks.

Hello how do you like your JNS skimmer?

Since its the new model still hasn't been delivered it should be here by the end of June, I ordered the CO 5 . I presently have the Reef Octopus SRO 5000 which performs well but I prefer the pumps and quality craftsmanship on the JNS more not to mention a compact foot print .

what is the footprint of the co5? And what is it rated for (gallons)?
Thanks, Rob.
Things are looking good!

Hey Matt,

As you know skimmer mfg puts rating numbers that are higher than we would expect in our Reef systems and I always sum it up to the recommended rating is based on Fish only systems( light stocking, softies or LPS). I usually take what ever a mfg rates, divide it by 60% for a SPS system, has worked well for me.

They Rate like this :

Normal Stocking 600 - 650 gal
Heavy Stocking 350 - 390 gal

here are the dimensions

• Footprint: 42 x 35 CM ; 51 * 21 CM
• Pump(included): SHARK 6.0
• Pump power consumption: 45 Watts
• Chamber Diameter: 25 CM
• Height: 58 CM
• Recommended Water Level: 22~24 CM
• Outlet Size: 1.5 Inch Quick-Precise adjusting valve

Thanks, Rob.
Ok for system size but I still don't get what the "51 * 21 cm" means..
Is that an alternate plumbing configuration?

Yes you can mount the pump on the other side so you have two options and two different foot prints.

here is a pics of the 2 ways you can install it if you notice at the base( level to the pump) there is a white cap, you can remove it and change the pump placement, also adds another pump for the ones who like to mod there skimmer :deadhorse1:.

What intensity does your radions run at?

60% and when new corals are placed I set it at Acclimation mode at 50% for 2 weeks.

I really didn't need 6 Radions on my tank, but its works out well since i have extra play to adjust colors as I see fit.

I have 6 on mine also. The lights in the back make more algae grow in the overflows than anything. My remove one and re position everything...

I have little to no Algae growth just coraline . Thats mainly due to my water column parameters are stable and no nitrates and ultra low P04 levels.

Thats sweet. I have a little cyano still grown. but you are correct I too have a ton of coraline, especially in the overflows.
