New Ora Red Planet Table Acro

This thing is fast grower, I already fragged mine twice. But I think my pearlberry grows just as fast if not faster. I just got the borealis and I don't think it will be as fast.

fast grower... agreed

... little survey...

who all has lost their green undertones to their red planet?

i have... mine is pretty much all a deep, rich pink color

its still a nice coral, but w/o the green contrast.. its just another pink/red tabler IMO

+1

Mine still has the nice green to it. I posted a pic a little while back that shows it pretty well. I do dose aminos pretty heavily so that may have something to do with it. It also has been just over a month since I got it, but the colors have gotten richer and deeper since.

Mine didn't have any green when I received it, but lately I'm noticing it coming in. My christmas mirabilis on the other hand, is losing it's green as it grows. The CM is a super fast grower too.

I have had mine for over 1-month and so far it still has the green and I think the red is also coming through nicely. I don't dose anything except two-part alk/calc and just keep everything stable.

Updated shot

Updated shot

Here's an updated shot. I broke it off the plug and epoxied it to a small rock. This shot is about 6 days later you can see it encrusting the epoxy.

Picture taken with an Olympus 1030 10mp underwater camera.
All lights (3 x Actnics and 3 x 10K) on.

I picked up a frag of a frag and it has lost the green. It didnt have much to start with but I have noticed good growth. Maybe once the frag is more established, the green will come back.

I have my ORA red planet frag for 2 months now and it has lost all it's green. I have undetectable nitrate, phosphate and it's 12-15" under my 250w 10K XM MH. I have pretty good colors on all my SPS except this frag & strawberry field which also lost it's green with similar placement in the tank. From this, I think I lost the green because of too much light. I may start lowering it to see if the green will return. Can anyone that has kept their green tell me what's your placement in the tank and under how much light? Thank you.

I have mine midway down in my 58, my tank is lit with 8 x 39 watt T5 ho's and it has mantained all the green nicely. I run a mix of ATI and KZ bulbs.

I just got the Red Planet last week. I had the ATL Red Hyacynthus and I believe this is the same coral.

I had great success with the Red Hyacynthus, once it started growing it grew like crazy. Great coloration as well.

I have the elos e-lite and have mine at the top part of my tank and it has most of its green gone as well. guess this coral maybe needs less light it appears?

guess I will detach it and move it down and see what that gets me.

Mine is about 8-10 inches from my Aquactinics t5 fixture. Pretty high up and has all its green. For the people who have lost their green I would try spot feeding a few times a week and see if that helps. I spot feed mine

ngn8dogg - what do you spot feed yours with? I feed all my corals in my tank Elos SVC zooplankton but I dont spot feed them. I just mix it up in tank water and dump it in so it circulates in the tank.

I also dose Elos Omega and ProSkimmer aminos every 3 days.

Mine is probably about 16" from my 6x54watt T5 bulbs. It turned all red when I first popped it off but now that it is encrusting it has began returning to green. I feed the Kent Marine Phytoplex Phytoplankton (capful every 4days). Thinking of switching to Brightwell. I didn't have a dremel so I was trying to hand saw it with a sharp file (not recommended) and pliers; I got lucky because I dropped it at one point and it popped out. You can see the plug in the bottom left of my picture. I heard that you can take a razor and pop it out though. Definitely using a dremel next time though.

Doesn't the ORA photo show no green at all, anyways? Just another one of those acros that looks better as a small frag?
