New Pictures, Old Camera

Well, I haven't been able to get the deal I want on the DSLR I want so I dug out my old Canon G3. Eight or nine years ago, this was the best digital point and shoot you could buy and I was able to get some good shots with it. I figured, what the heck. The good news is that it still takes great shots. The bad news is that there are no drivers for Windows 7. So, pull out the old card reader and see what happens.

I'm still remembering how to use it but for 4 megapixels, it still takes great shots. Other than resizing, these are untouched and shot in RAW. I will say that I am now absolutely convinced that the lens rather than the mega pixels makes the camera. Just no comparison to my current 12 mega pixel point and shoot or my 8 mega pixel phone. The old G3 wins hands down.

I can't remember what the 'RC Acro' is but I bought it a couple of weeks ago at Reef Culture. I don't think it is strawberry shortcake (obviously a scientific name) but it was one of the 'named' corals.

BTW, the red acro is a slow grower but very healthy. It really colored up once I replaced the LED's with the MH/T5 combo. Before the change, it was light brown. It got steadily redder over the past several weeks after the change.

Don't know what it is (other than an acro) and I got it about 6 months ago at RC. Pretty sure it's a red acro with green polyps (that's the technical name)

Purple with green polyps one looks GARFish to me. First pic is a seramentosa. I have a Rebel XTI you can borrow if you would like. Its just sitting around here.....

My bet is it will change to purple.

+1. Not really sure, but looks like a purple a. nana, or a a. valida

Nice pieces, and great polyp extension- looks like they've encrusted, now it's time for takeoff haha

If it's the one on the right side of the tank, mid-height towards the back, it's not true GARF (but closely related).

Frick, that's almost exactly what mine looks like under just actinics. I think I need to move away from the 14K Hamiltons towards something with a bit more blue. Maybe a Phoenix or XM. It's too bad Radiums don't come in DEs.
