New Product! Current USA Orbit Marine LED Aquarium Light

Hi Junk2, You would need 3-4 of the Orbit Marine's or two of the Orbit Marine Pro's. For larger aquariums, sometimes the higher power LED's are better options: two AI Hydra 26's or two Radion XR15w Pro's would be excellent options.

ok, so am set to buy 2 of the orbit marine pros. I can link them so that I control both at the same time though right? All the reviews on your site refer to using the remote, but I thought these were wifi enabled so that I could use my pc to program them. Is that right?
Thanks

Hi Junk2, Orbits and Orbit Pro's do not have wifi features. They are programmed directly through the wireless remote. As all the remotes use the same frequency, many customers have been able to program two lights together with the same remote and the lights stays relatively in sync.

Good Afternoon,

i just bought the 18" -24" what settings should I put for my blue and white lights and what duration is suggestable. It seems like the preset is a bit too strong for my frogspawn.

Hi GrumpyYWG,

LED's can be deceptively strong. We usually recommend starting 50% maximum intensity then gradually increase it according to how your corals respond. For the photoperiod, most hobbyists run their lights for 8-12 hours per day. As for the color, it depends on your personal preference. Most will have the blue intensity higher than the white intensity as most like it looking more blue. Simply play around with the intensity and see what you like.

I have the 24 to 36 on a 20 gallon. I just bought a 55 gallon I will be transferring everything too. I am wondering if 2 of the 24" will work for a 55 since I already have 1? I have mostly soft corals just one sps that's doing fine with this light so far.

Hi Warren,

The 55 gallon is quite a bit deeper, so the light will not be as effective on the larger tank. A possible option may be to add a 48"-60" then use the 24" fixture in the area where more light is needed.

Hello,

I have 2 of the current dual ramp timers. I know they have the different preset timers included but I want to have the blues at around 90% and whites around 60% (still figuring out the perfect mix). Anyway do you know if I can set a custom time and have the blues brighter than the white? I'm only finding min and max intensity for the whole light.

The only option I can seem to find it have one timer control the blues on 2 separate lights and the other time control the whites on 2 separate lights so I can control the intensity for both colors. very confusing but the tank looks so much better with more blues....

Thank you! I will try that as soon as I get home. The lights are beautiful, timer is just a bit confusing..

Thanks again!!

Which fixture and how many do you recommend on a standard 125 gallon with center brace? Going to keep mainly lps and softies.

Being 24" deep, you would need 1, possible 2, of the 72" Orbit Marine Pro's. A better option may be a couple of the MaxSpect Razors or a T-5 System.

I have the original generation model of this light. I don't have any corals. It's a 40G breeder tank with 3 fish. I've always run it on the preset m1 timer. I am having a lot of brown algae and assume it's the intensity of the lights. I am thinking of creating a custom setting. Does anyone have a very specific recommendation for me? Tank is about 6-7 months running.

Thanks - Steve

Hi Steve,

Lowering the light intensity will indeed help with the algae. For a fish-only tank, it's all about aesthetics and your preference so there is not really a 'correct' setting. Simply dial down the intensities to a level that is acceptable for you.

In the mean time, you will also want to check your water parameters. Elevated nitrate and phosphate levels will cause algae issues. If your nutrient levels are high, you will also want to perform water changes and/or use a filter media to bring those levels down.
