New Purple Macrodactyla doreensis

Moved On
Just picked up a purple LTA today. Looks great so far except for the fact his/her mouth is slightly open. My LTA is eating well and attached in the sand between the rock. I had to make plenty of room for it so when it hits 20 inches (hopefully it will make it) it will have room but then will probably need more. Here are some pics to start with.

Any feedback and input is greatly appreciated. I don't care if its harsh either. :)

Or did your condy & bta & carpet die already?

I took the condy back to my lfs and the RBTA is in its own tank now. So its just the two. I know many disagree about having more than one different species of anemones but I have seen tanks where hobbyists have had a scenario similiar to mine. I also use carbon in my system. The Bluecarpet and LTA have plenty of room away from each other.

BTW, I have had no anemone die on me ever (knock on wood).

Today my LTA was partly deflated but I am assuming it is flushing its waste out of its system like all anemones do. But I am keeping a strict eye on it.

I am due for a water change (I do one about every week and a half). So when should I do it? Should I give my LTA a few more days to adjust? I don't want to upset any balance so far yet.

My F1sh R D34D!, can I see a picture of your LTA? I bet it looks great if its all purple. :)

Clarkii Clowns awesome tank.

55semi, i agree it is a little bleached but should get better with the care you are going to give it. Nice pick up for 22 bucks, cant beat that. Hopefully the mouth becomes tighter with time. Also 55semi what other tank do you have, where the rbta is and what kind of lighting do you have on that tank. Just curious.

Wow clarkii clowns, your LTA has come a long way. You have inspired me. :)

Bluecarpet, thanks for the input. My LTA has no dug its foot in the sand under a rock. Its mouth has got tighter so thas a good sign. Today, its been deflating and inflating frequently. I am pretty sure its adjusting this way to my water chemistry. BTW, I definately have plenty of light and good flow.

The RBTA is in a 100 gallon tank with MH.

Nice little anem,

Clarkii Clowns man so loving that anem:)

I realized I have a long way to go. But everything seems to be ok for now.

Pros: Has dug its foot
Mouth got tighter
Ate yesterday
Is sticky
Has not roamed

Cons: Deflating a bit but like I said I think its still adjusting

Any other input is appreciated.

Good luck with everything. And post some pics of the 100 gallon tank, or i can come over and take a look at it. Just be carefull of keeping them anemone's in the same tank, you might run into problems later on down the road.

Being skeptical ehh?

The purple LTA has fully dug its foot into the sand and now my tomato clown is starting to host it. So does anyone know when I should do my next water change if I am do for one right now. Would it upset the balance of my LTA so far?

Just a bit. A 55 gallon is to small for a blue hadoni let alone a lta in the tank as well. I would go ahead and do a small water change.

It seems like you have a lot of experience and i know you do, so why dont you put the blue carpet in the 100 gallon tank you have and then everything would be allright. Do you have any pics of the 100 gallon?

Better yet why not put the lta in the 100 gallon tank and keep the carpet in the 55 for now until it gets much bigger and just swap the lta out with the carpet. All should be well. Since the rbta is so small you dont have anything to be afraid of, like the anemones touching or something. All the best and talk to you later.

The 100 gallon is going to be just for an RBTA tank. No other anemone is allowed.

The lta and carpet will be in my 55 but not forever. I think I will upgrade later on.

Any pics of the 100 gallon. Thats pretty big for just rbta's, you might as well just use the 55 for an rbta only tank and transfer the carpet and lta to the 100. TTYL.
