New Regal Tang not eating

Okay, need some opinions: purchased a Regal Tang @ Aqua Hut on Sunday evening, (about 3.5 to 4 inches long). He's been hiding behing a small rock in my QT ever since. I have some Julian Sprung Veggies hanging and tried some brine shrimp but I haven't noticed him/her eating. I also tried some green algae strips. I'm not starting to panic yet but any other suggestions would be appreciated? No signs of ick or other disorders just not eating, only hiding.

My tangs never liked sprungs sea veggies, they would not go near it. They love seaweed selects green algea.

Re: New Regal Tang not eating

Give him a few days. As you know, they can be skittish.

When I had tangs, they liked chaeto (which they grazed on during the day) and all types of food. For vegetables, I used to take a recipe from the web for greens, lightly cook them in RO water and they ate that too.

You want to give tangs a lot of variety. They used to eat everything I put in front of them. My hippo grew from around 3 inches to over 5 inches, so try to keep him in a big tank.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I'll try some mysis, I also have some green seaweed and chaeto. Today he was out and about swimming around the QT, so that's a step in the right direction. The QT is only 10 gals however the main display is 85 gals. I wanted to wait a couple of wks before moving him to the main display.
