New Rics from Emerald Bay

I just picked up a rock with about 33 or so mushrooms.....which is misleading, because a bunch are splitting. I fragged off a piece of the rock for my 5 gallon tank. Here's a few quick pics.

I tried to make it 'night' in my office, which almost worked....it was still too light.....anyways....

No offense but if they aren't bleached then what are they? The only time I have seen mushrooms that color were when they fell under the rockwork or something for a few months.

They still look healthy and will probably color up just fine IMO

I saw those rics when they came in. They are definitely a little bit whiter than they were before and not quite as happy looking (judging from the picture), but I'm fairly certain from having seen them before that these rics are supposed to be a very light/bright green. If your tank conditions are fine I'm sure they'll be back to full spledor in no time. I wanted to get them when they first came in, but I didn't need a piece that size and couldn't really justify buying the whole thing.

Yeah, I didn't want the whole rock either....but I'm fragging the rock up a bit, and spreading them around my tanks.

FWIW.... This photo is maybe two hours after being dropped in my tank.

I was hoping that they would stay this flourescent lime green color. I didn't think about them being bleached. Oh well, they are quite healthy.....I'll just wait and see what color they become or remain.

OK, it's been a month now. The color hasn't changed.....will it?

They look much happier now albeit still whiter than most rics... that's about what they looked like when they came in and that's about what I think they should look like. I'm not ruling out that they won't change any more, but I wouldn't expect much. They look awesome and I'd be down for a frag when they get to that point. As said above, I thought about buying them when they came in. It was just too big of a piece and I couldn't be out the money if I didn't get people that wanted frags of it.

Thanks. I hope it doesn't change. I like the 'glow in the dark' color it has.

I didn't want the whole rock when I first saw them....but I talked myself into it. Now I'm happy that I did.

I'm still moving the main rock around, trying to find out what they like best. High flow/High light, med. flow/med. light, etc. So far, it's hard to tell as I'm not that familar with Rics.

When I get ready to start fragging them, you guys will be the first to know. I really only wanted 2-3 of these to start with.
