Just wanted to show you guys my new Ritteri. I traded off a BTA that i had so i needed a new nem. I picked him up Friday from my LFS, believe it or not, he was the better looking of the 2 that they had lol. As of right now he's doing fantastic, it was going through a weird inflating and deflating stage every couple of hours Friday and some of Saturday, and it was also spitting out some purple and white gunk. But now it seemed to even out and he's pretty much fully inflated now. He attached immediately to the rock I put him on and hasn't moved yet. (I'm kind of hoping he does because it's a little bit of an odd spot.) He's also been eating well. I gave him a couple pieces of mysis today and he gobbled them up just fine. Here's a couple of before and after pics.

I'm sorry to say but have to tell you that is not looking like a healthy ritteri/mag, tents look deflated and what you described is the typical bacteria infection they often need to be treated for.
That nem needs QT and cipro treatment asap

Really? It's been looking like it was improving quite a bit. It's mouth is closed tight and it hasn't deflated at all since early yesterday. But if something is wrong, I'd like to jump on it now, instead of waiting for it to be to late. Where do I get cipro from? I have a qt tank ready to go.

I would not feed him at all for a week or so and he have not deflates.
Magnifica that are sick deflates later part of the day. Then they deflate more and more and inflate less and less
If I am you I would start him on treatment ASAP

Agree, it can look deceiving, it can look great for bit, then terrible.
If it deflates at all it has an issue that needs to be treated, I have not heard of it just going away on it's own, and the downfall can happen fast.

This is what a healthy Magnific ashould look like. None of the picture you posted sow a healthy Magnifica. Treat him Quickly or you will loose him.

The deflated tents are quite clear to me, if you've dealt w/ it in person you remember that ugh feeling very well when you see that.
New nems, tight tents or open mouth, yeah, that is common, that initial stress, deflation as we see in those pics is another story.

Agree with the others. I would pull and treat. I would venture to say there is a 90% success rate with Cipro treatment of mags if done properly and started before it's too late.

Welp he's in a 10g qt now with a small powerhead and heater. He was looking bad this morning with his mouth exposed and deflating/inflating. I put my first round of Cipro in early today.... so the directions pretty much is to dose then do a 50 percent water change the next day and dose some more? And repeat?

Do a 100% water change and add 250 mg Cipro this evening then turn the light out.
100% water change daily, and anytime the water get cloudy. Add 250 mg Cipro each time after water change.
Good luck with him. Medication drastically improve the survival of anemones.

Change water and dose med every night because Cipro and Septra both breakdown by light. Change at night will give the anemone full night of good dose of antibiotic. You can change water at other time too but I will always do additional one at night.

Alright can do, I'm hoping it's not to late for it. He was looking pretty rough when I came in early today. Not as bad as when I first got it but it was still bad.

At least you had cipro on hand for quick action, good luck man!
I'm in the process of treating one right now too.

Well I come in this morning to check on him. And I now I see the difference you guys were talking about. He's starting to fully inflate now, with his tentacles maybe twice the size as I've ever seen them. I was gonna snap a pic but I was running late for work. He's also looking like he's growing in size a good bit. Which is probably from him inflating more. It's looking like it's working pretty well to me. I'll keep you guys updated!
