New sea grasses (pictures)

Hi there,
Here are some pictures from my 19gal tank. I added some Cymodocea nodosa to my tank but I dont know if they will make it or not. I think they are usually found in a bit deep water (Although I got them from 8-9 ft) so they dont need a very bright light. I have two actinics 20W each and a 10000K bulb. These bulbs are rather old. If they wont make it, I will just use caulerpa on my sand bed but sea grass sure looks better.

That is awesome. That's the nicest seagrass tank. I've been looking for some examples before I royally mess something up once I get started. Filtration?

Thanks. I will be VERY happy when they start to grow.
I only have a hang-on filter which is used for aeration only. I sometimes put carbon into it but rarely.
Sand bed and live rocks are my filters. I only have a yellow watchman goby in the tank but I plan on adding a couple of chromis or a fairy wrasse.

I'm so jealous! :D Looks like Cymodocea is a big version of Halodule. I think I'm in love! Now if only I can find a way to bring some back, or have someone collect it for me.. ahhh.. if only.

I'm not sure if they will have enough light but keep an eye on them. The deeper water species tend to be very forgiving with light concerns. Even though you collected them at a shallow spot they should be capable of switching gears and doing okay at a lower light level. The Halophila I've collected has been a good example of this capability.

Be prepared to lose some leaves though.

I'm so excited for you! In a perfect world there would be a seagrass catalog and I would be able to just order out of it any species I wanted. Maybe someday it'll get there.. someone needs to setup a nice aquaculture facility for it.
