New set up

Hello, I have purchased two 6200's and the multicontroller. I am having a tank built by envision acrylics. The tank will be 77''x36''x30'' tall. I am looking at having the overflow on the left hand side centered in the middle. That will leave me with 9.5'' on either side of the overflow.

Questions: Will two 6200's be enough or should I go for 4. What about a wavebox? Would one do the trick or would I need the extender? Can I but the wavebox on the side of the overflow?

I could still have the overflow moved if you have a better set up idea, he is building it for me in January.

The only other flow I will have is the return at about 3 times turnover an hour. He is making the overflow slats 2'' to accommodate a wave if I go that route. Going to be a mixed tank with lps and sps and fish and critters, 2 inch sand bed.

I am pretty sure becuase of the width you will need an extension for the wavebox if you use one. I don't think you need anymore Streams. If you want the waveboxes, ideally the overflow is centered on the back wall, this makes less noise and allows a bigger wave. Expect that with the extension the wave could be almost 2.5" tall so I would leave 3" from the water level to the top frame.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So if I do not get the wavebox will I need some more 6200's? Which would be better, wavebox or more streams?

I don't think you need more Streams either way. The wavebox would be nice but I would start with what you have, you can always add more later.

So, if there is a good chance that the two 6200's and my return will provide enough flow, would there be a good chance that one wavebox would provide a gentle wave for the tank? Would there be any problem with just one wavebox other then the wave being maybe more of a swell?
