New skimmer

Hey guys I have a reef dynamics in sump skimmer rated at 300 gal and I just hasnt been working well for me. Ive checked the water level, cleaned everything and its output still seems weak. What wouldbe the fix for this and would anybody have a suggestion of a really good replacement for my outrageously overstocked tank. Input wouldbe appreciated. Thx

You might also want to look at LifeReef protein skimmers. They are very powerful, collect a mean skimmate, and are pretty much plug and play. By far the most stress free skimmer I've ever purchased.

Grant don't forget to see what Steve can do for you. He ordered me a smaller Reef Octo and got me a pretty good deal. He and Erin are working a little bit on a buisiness venture so I might be able to do a delivery if needed.

Grant, as we've discussed, I'd have to agree with your expectation of more skimmate production from your current skimmer. And I know you've spent a lot of time trying to increase production.

That double Sicce pump reef octo looks like a beast! I'm impressed with how far skimmer refinement has come since I bought mine 6-7 years ago, between the vessel shape, impeller design and air and water flow control.

Until I posted here I was going to get the 250 with the two pumps but now Im looking into the smaller footprint bubble blaster units. Any opinions between the two would be appreciated.

You gotta love the name "Bubble Blaster":blown:

Ive decided to go with the Reef Octopus Extreme xs250 skimmer with the two sicce 1000 pumps. It was a really tough choice between this one and the cone skimmer with the bubble blaster pump but height clearance was the deciding factor. Both units seem to have great ratings. Any final input???

Well I received the new skimmer and it was hilarious, lets put it this way, the collection cup lid was just about the size of a dinner plate LOL so after much debate with others about which unit to go with I'm now waiting for the xs 200 which is the 8"version instead of the 10" I'll keep you posted.

I was thinking "Big 10 Inch" from "Toys In The Attic".

I believe I still have that vinyl disk in a box somewhere.
