I am setting up a new 110 gallon tank. I have water, live rock, live sand in the tank only. New sump, and Reef Octopus 150INT skimmer. I plugged in the skimmer yesterday. With the gate wide open water and bubbles are overflowing the skimmer. Suggested depth is 6-8 inches of water...i have tried 4-7 inches of water and it is feaking out still. Been going on for 24 hours. I have the plug pulled on the cap cause its just straight overflowing. Any thoughts?

New skimmers need time to break in and will overflow like that for a while. I would take it out wash it with hot water and dish soap rinse really good and put back in. If it keep overflowing then let it go it will settle down.

I ran my new skimmer in a vinegar/water solution overnight and my skimmer only overflowed for a day.
Or you can just let it run in your sump and let the overflow drain back into it. It will eventually settle down.
