Well, if I would have started the build thread... everyone would have been waiting since last September. I am still gathering a few more items. It won't be too much longer.

I can't wait to see that bad boy in person.

Jesse is going to be mad. He hasn't done a review on that one yet I don't think. LOL

Give you give us some details on your plans for the tank (i.e. lighting, flow, what you plan to do keep in it, etc)?

nope no review on that one. But becket is the way to go for larger systems. Otherwise you are looking at a much more expensive pinwheel skimmer. And I have used becket style skimmers. You get a nice small bubble action with them. They just are not that effecient for smaller systems. Not until about the 3 to 4 hundred gallon range does it start to be more efficient. Nice skimmer should do a good job for you.

Remember that nothing is set up:
Currently I have a 225g display, 60" x 36" x 24".
I also purchased a large 6' sump from Joe(JCR) which is divided into 6 x 1' sections. I am not positive as to what I will use it for yet.
Other misc. tanks include a 200g 48" x 48" tub, 2 x 75g, 40g breeder, 65g, 50g stock tank, 50g 48" frag tank, as well as a ton of smaller tanks.

I have multiple designs worked out. None of which utilize everything...

My lighting will be 2 x 400w DE (not sure of brand and spectrum yet, I have a few different kinds) run on a dual 400w PFO HQI ballast. This will be connected to a moving light rail with a motor.
I will also add 4-6 80w t-5's on Icecap reflectors and 660 ballasts.

My return is a Dolphin ampmaster 5600 for my closed loop.
I also have a Vortech Mp40w as well as a custom made wavebox with a 6200.

I plan on a mainly SPS dominated tank and haven't determined if it will be a shallow sand bed or barebottom.

I plan on getting an ACIII(just sold my ACjr thanks to Gondore showing me the iPhone app lol)
I also will need a pump for the skimmer(Barracuda or PW250)
and some sort of calcium and/or kalk. (Most likely DIY)

I believe I am G2G after that... and more money of course.

Wow, sounds cool! I will look forward to following along. Hopefully you create that build thread. :)

Oh, sorry about forcing you into that ACIII purchase :p

I definitely will. It has been hard to juggle work, fixing up the house, and going back to school. That is why it has taken so long to scrape up the funds(didn't use credit this time so I am very happy).

I am glad you got the ACIII when you did as I ended up selling my unit for a profit. :) Now that I have the big skimmer out of the way I need to either make a steel or wood stand. I am leaning toward steel...

Glad to hear you made some money on the ACJr. :)

If you aren't totally locked into your lighting yet and want to go with MH I would strongly suggest the Radiums for bulbs. I have LOVED my 250 watt Radiums and have heard the 400s are even better. Only problem is that it appears you have the equipment for DE now.

Nice skimmer! Did you get the recirc pump with it?

Jesse, if you would like to play with one of these I have a MR2 sitting around.

AJ :)

It did not come with the pump, but it does have a waste collector... I guess that is my consolation prize. I am looking for a Barracuda or PanWorld 250...

I picked up a GRI pump for mine. Should be similar to what you are looking for. ( I added a large extention, and a second injector)
I think you need two pumps to run that skimmer being a recirculating model.

Nice to get the waste collector for sure.

AJ :)

Enough said...

I think I can fix it with some weld-on and reinforcements. As for the injector inputs... Has anyone been able to salvage something like this, or should I remake it?
