New stand options

Greetings,

I am in process of building a new stand for a 24" Perfecto RR cube. I was thinking about adding four or even six heavy duty low profile casters for ease of maintenance. I figured that a 60g tank, 20 sump and the stand will add all the way up to 900-1000 lbs so I need 200 - 250 lb. rated casters.

Anyone with any experience on using casters ? Will this addition create any instability ? The stand has a 25" square base and is 31" tall.

Thank you,
Marian

I have no experience using casters for a fish tank, but you obviously need to make sure that the tank/stand is level. Also, get casters with locks -so it doesn't roll away.
I don't think that the movement of the tank or the water moving around would harm anything. Wave makers move water back and forth at a healthy pace; loading and unloading the sides of the tank and those tanks seem to be ok.
The casters may make indents on your floor, depending on what its made of.
I don't see it being a bad idea, but wait for others to chime-in on the subject, you may get some other opinions.
Dan
