And the FTS. Still ways to go for some of these frags. But they're making progress. Just have to keep my hands out of the tank!

Beautiful tank my friend. Much credit to you for creating such a nice slice of the reef! :)

Looks great Nick, What did you do with your Rod's Onyx.

Hi Nick,
My Rod's Onyx still doing good in the tank. You can see them in the FTS if you look closely to the right side of the tank in the ricordia yuma area.
They like to go underneath the yuma during the day and sleep on the acanthophyllia at night. They don't have a proper home ever since I took the gigantea out of the tank and unlikely to see another anemone in this tank. They're going into their 5th year(had them since baby) and no sign of laying eggs anywhere. Weird thing is, they're the same size.

That's a beautiful tank, Nick! The change of colors and growth are just unbeliveble.

So do you really think the lightning was an issue in the beginning? At what point did you change from Topic Marin salt?

I am trying to figure what went wrong in my SPS tank. At the same time I changed to TIR lenses on my Radions and opened a new Tropic Marin Bio Actif salt. Prior these 2 changes the corals were growing with great colors. I check Alk of freshly made water and it was 5.6 dKH (tested a few times with Hanna and Red Sea).

BTW I was following your instructions on setting Profilux. Thank you.

Alla

Hi Alla,
I was excited with the LED and really like the look of the fixture(Black Python) and the low heat dissipation. I honestly really wanted it to work with my tank. In my first try, the acros lost a lot of their color and polyps were slowly disappearing within a month. I hung back my MH and religiously change 5gallons of water every week. After about 8 months into it, I see that my acros are doing well so I thought I would give the Pacific Sun another try and hung back the Black Python. But after about 2weeks into it, my acros were showing the same sign as before. I quickly put the LED down and made my final decision to run the tank with MH and T5.

I switch to IO from TMP almost 2 years ago.

There are several threads on the issue with Tropic Marin in the chemistry forum. Even to this day, people are still experiencing 5dKH on their top of the line salt(Bio Actif). There's something going on with Tropic Marin and they're not telling us.

Enjoy your Profilux, it's been awhile that I had to mess with the controller setting. But if you need any help, shoot me a PM.

Thank you, Nick! I'll be checking back to see how your tank is doing.

I hope my problems started with a bad salt butch and not my new TIR lenses.

Thanks again.

Terrific Job, Nick. Your SPS look great and your LPS don't seem to be suffering for it. Are you feeding your LPS?? If so, what? What amount of Nitrate is in your water??

:)

Hi Bill,
I'm running biopellets along with GFO and carbon. I also have cheato in a section in the sump. I'm running less than 1/4 amount of the recommendation on the biopellets. I'm trying to pull the biopellets out slowly. My parameters are as follow. All tested with Red Sea Pro except for phosphate
Alk-7.5dKH
CA-420ppm
MG-1400ppm
No3-1ppm
Po4-0.01-0.02ppm
I also have Red Sea Pro test kit for Potassium, Iodine, and Iron. But they're a PITA to test and when I test, the level seem to be in the "acceptable" range so I don't bother anymore. I think keeping an eye on the big 5 is more crucial.
