He was in a bucket for 12+ hours and then we needed to get him off a rock where he had been a very very long time. He was so deep that I had to chizzle him out with a hammer. Hardest anemone I've removed yet.
So yeah, after all the stress of hammering the rock and the nem being out of the water, he looks very good already IMO. Can't wait till he really settles in.
I assume it is a Caribbean specimen? I'm envious I wonder why S.Helianthus is not as available as S.Gigantea, but probably because they do not host Amphiprioninae.
These were miss labeled and shaggy in the store. They had purple lighting on them so the spots on verrucae were purple. Got them home dumped them in HT...next day I started to really look at them after work, and low behold, I scored 3 sun anemones aka Atlantic carpets. They even appeared to have green foot. Bag was labeled S. Gigantea x3. Got my money back today.
The smaller brown spots and non-moving tentacles is a good sign you have an Atlantic carpet. You put strong light on them and they will flatten out too. Also, they do not get over 12".
