NEW store in El PASO? Closed STORE?

yeah new thread really not necessarry. there was the good and the not so good. but if the store is no longer there then i feel the issue doesnt deserve its own thread. but if things were owed then they are owed the email said it would be, but how is that gonna happen, each individual should have been contacted.

There is really no need to bash Dennis. It will do none of us any good and will only make the ones that do it stoop to his level. It would really be much better for all involved that had a problem with him to take it up with him and not drag it out here on the forum. This is of course JMO and means nothing, if all of you want to drag him through the mud, but it really doesn't reflect anything good about the club or it's members if we do that. I also don't think it will resolve anything by doing it.

I think anybody that got taken by him should have stayed on top of him better and either gotten their products or their money back. Again this is JMO

Dennis always treated me well. I do not doubt it will get worked out. My bulbs are somewhere....
I don't doubt that he treated you well. He treated me alright as well. It was the business that he conducted that I did not agree with. More then several occasions, he would tell me that I got a "preferred price" over the other customers and was told to wait till the other patrons left so I could get his "deal". Then here him tell the same to the other customers. That's why I stopped going there cause I just knew he was ripping me off. He was either a shotty business man or we were all blind to see he was ripping us off.

Well Pedro said to and I got the same email that he would "do right to the customers that had already purchased equipment from MSWW". This was almost 2-3 months ago. Just curious who has gotten their owed equipment from Dennis since he announced the closure of the store.

Hello guys, It's sad hear that some people had problems with dennis, I had never have any issue with him, I don't know if somebody else bought dennis's equipment but Not me, I'd tried but he never answered me =(.

Touchy subject. I agree though that Dennis pulled the blinds on many people, however, many did not know that was happening to them. I know that he did it to me several times, that "special price because I know you", complete BS but he was a LFS and I do understand the costs of running a business and overhead so I often said ok and purchased anyway. I am displeased to hear that many had monies "invested" in Dennis in hopes of purchase returns. If he had a concscience Dennis would have made good on these deals. I hate to be one of the people that are losing money on his store closure however I do think the closure may be for the better of the greater EP area. He was not completely fair and the history of mistreatment to his customers is long and distinguished.

Jay--i honestly and totally agree with you. Yes, Dennis did rip off a lot of his "faithful" customers. Yet, like you said, he was trying to run a business in which he thought he should. Whether if I agree with it or not, it's pointless because we all now see what he really was all about. I am glad he is no longer in business.

The funny thing is that I am a big supporter of small businesses. When my wife told me to stop going to his shop because he was ripping us off, I was torn because honestly, he was the nearest LFS to Cruces. We never or hardly ever get to the east side. Now we make it a point to visit honest people that run a great outfit at TCR with Daniel and Leanor. Awesome people.

And deservedly so, this issue does need to be brought in the forum. Dredging Dennis' name through the mud won't accomplish anything, I agree. Nevertheless, the truth is that there are many members and non members that were taken by Dennis during this closure. STARS was not affiliated with Dennis and MSWW. Ok. However, as a club, it is very important to discuss these matters in order to rectify a situation for a member/non-members, just like this one. To let it get swept under the rug or individuals who had monies with Dennis should have communicated better with Dennis is kinda saying I told you so or not my problem.

That is what we are not about in this club. Many members or non-members look at our club on a daily basis without chiming in. And maybe they don't want to say a word for fear of embarrassment or not knowing how to express their thoughts. We as a club can be their voices.

Whether or not it will resolve anything, who knows? Maybe if the store that opens up and listens to the concerns of those that got taken by Dennis may do something to rectify the situation by actually going to Dennis rectify it for them. We can also be that voice. Will it ever get rectified with Dennis and the honest people he took monies from? I hope so, if he had an ounce of dignity and a spine he would do the right thing. But we also have to remember that proceeds from his "sham" of a tank raffle-give away were just that, a hoax to line his pockets with cash other than helping the club and helping out the police department--its how the monies "were supposed to be divided". So members of STARS and STARS was indirectly or directly affected by Dennis and MSWW who donated money to his "cause".

Agree with what you said deehz and yes I believe we can count that money as gone!! :( I have my own story but bottom line - thankfully I used a credit card. :sad1: I doubt we will ever see him again.....

So a couple of STARS members got together today and went to the opening of El Paso's new candy store. Let me tell you I was impressed by the lay out of the place and the set ups they had. I was most impressed to know that Luis the owner custom built every set up in the store. For those of you that didn't get to go take a look at the new candy store, here are some pics of us kids at the candy store.

When I say he built every set up in store I mean he built every set up!

Maybe he can built the STARS Frag Tank if we start it?

I have a question, I remember taht back in 2003 Keller Kustoms a boat repair shop @
3450 Lee Boulevard used to sell Saltwater livestock. I googled El Paso Saltwater Fish and it came out as one of the saltwater retailers again. Does anybody know if they are selling livestock again?

Also what hapend to Ocean View, the guy who used to sell out of his house on 11171 Tomas Granillo Street, in Socorro, TX

Does anyone have any info on this store such as hours, phone number, and even a physical address for those of us not super familiar with EP. I was hoping to come check the place out tomorrow.

thanks

I went to check out Aquarium Concept and I've got to say that is a very nice store. It's nice to have another store on the westside. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Steff--your an @ss! lol

But yes, you are right. The bow on that frag tank is pretty impressive. Simple fix though. just an acrylic rod or plate over the top to get some structural strength to keep the bow from separating the seam/s. Hopefully when we get to EP on sunday, we can check out least one LFS on our out.
