New Sump

I finally replaced my quasi sump that was a modified tank with one baffle. I drew up a design and had this built. It was built around the new Reef Octopus DC skimmers and return pump. I originally tried to fit the SS2 model but it was just too big. It was also oversized for my water volume and I didn't want to over skim again. This is the smallest size they make and is rated for 200 gallons. It's already producing skim after just a few days. I'm using the DC5500 model return pump. The left side of the cabinet is done. I still need to address the ballast and cables on the right side. I spent so much time in the stand this weekend it feels like I've been playing twister for 3 days straight. JP

Working in stands is never fun. I always wake up the next day and realize I must of had my back arched in a position it's not supposed to be in the whole time.

Looks good. And seriously, but that thing in the DT!

What are you running your dc return pump at? (how many green bars?). I've got mine full blast and its perfect for my 90. I really love this dc pump for my return- I could have gone with the 5500 but I really didn't need the extra gph.

Talk about skimmer clearances! That looks like it had to be wedged in!

Nice looking set up. I'll bet it was worth all the back pain for sure.

Speed 4 seems to be perfect. the skimmer is still on 3. These are nice pumps.

Actually I could have, and wish I would have went 2" longer for a little bigger refugium. A future rebuild I guess. I do like the center return configuration. JP
