I recieved a Quote on a new tank which im looking at getting built. the dimensions would be 72" L x 31 1/2" W x 28" T.
this quote was done on a 12mm glass bottom and 10mm glass sides with bracing, bottom reinforcement and an overflow box.

my question is do u think that the glass thickness with reinforcement and bracing will be ok??

thanks

Not sure if the bracing will help the 10mm from bowing too much. If I were you I would do 16mm for the bottom and 12mm for the sides. You could probably do 10mm for the overflow. If you brought the height of the aquarium down to 24 inches instead of 28 inches, then you could go with the 10mm for the sides.

I dont know in MM my 120"x36"x30" is 3/4 bottom and 1/2 in sides and doing great. my tank builder has the same tank set up for close to 20 years now in her home with no problems.

nyvp,
sorry im not sure if ur saying it should be ok or not.

how about 12mm glass all around??
anyone else??

my opinion is over build and sleep better. you shouldnt be worrying about IF its thick enough. I did a 72x30x30 and did 3/4 with 3/4 euro. no worries here. I also plan on using a wavebox and wondered if the added stress would make a difference. Well I guess I'll never know.
