new tank update

I along with a lot of other people have had some issues with the Hannah cal checkers. I suggest another opinion on that level.. Fwiw I sold mine pretty quickly after I got it.. Notoriously wrong readings on the same sample of water.. I have had good luck with the alk (until it's the last few tests in the liquid) and p04.. Tank looks awesome so far

easy to use and i like the digital reading easier then the color chard
ill take a water sample to the store see what they get

Hi Club
So I have put water in the tank and is running I gest all I have to do is wait
I also put 1 gallon of Miracle Mud in the sump for the refugium
my Skimmer it barely fits (Super Reef Octopus 2000 int)
i may look for a space saver

should I have my skimmer running ???
all is doing is over filling
or keep if off ??????

I'd run it but turn down the water level. Looks like you got a real head of foam on that dude! If you can't get it to mellow out, there's no harm in shutting it down for a while. Not much to skim out yet! :)

How are you cycling? (dead shrimp, starter fish, ammonium chloride, bacteria in a bottle?)

I am using stability bacteria in a bottle
and i turned off the skimmer
look on youtube and this skimmer they do overflow at the beginning

I have the same skimmer! The adjustments are a PIA!! I ran mine along with cycle so it could slime up. The biggest issue I've had is finding the right water level for it to sit in. The instructions say, IIRC, 8-9 inches. This turns out to be WRONG! It was just about impossible to have any control at that depth. The output was under water! Nick, aka Lokii_37, has the same model. He contacted the company and got better info than the really pitiful included instructions.

Yours looks good. I don't think it matters much if you run it or not. It's all about going slow anyway! :)

Are you feeding the bacteria? I have some ammonium chloride if you need it. LMK, I could bring it to the meet tomorrow.

thank John
yes ill take some ammonium
and also how much does your skimmer vibrate mine shakes pretty good
I don't know if am liking this skimmer

Carlos imo from your pictures. your skimmer stand looks a little wobbly. And when the skimmer is running the vibration is insensitified because of the wobbly stand. Before checking off the skimmer as a not so good one try building a more strudy stand.

Now all I have to do is remember to bring it! :)

My skimmer is not as quiet as I'd like. It's not a vibration so much as the hummmmm!

I bought a silicone hot pad from Sur la Table that 'one of these days' I'm going to cut up and put under the stand legs. I think there is quite a bit of resonance being in a glass sump.
