New tank with LED light

The new build is looking very cool Rodney, that rock structure is going to make an awesome acro platform
Sucks about the new light not being under the xmas tree tonight...... :(

New light arrived but cant pick up til Monday cause of Xmas! so close to having a new new pressie :(

Arrrrggg that sucks man! Well, at least it will be there soon. :)

That scape looks crazy! Going to look awesome with SPS on it.

Happy day, DHL was open on a Saturday so was able to pickup the new light. Giesemann Matrix II Dimtec 8x80w.

Very sleek unit, by far the best looking light ive seen or owned - it oozes quality aswell as design. The light is very narrow, 45cm (35cm globe to globe roughly) so lets see how much spread the light gives when the globes arrive

Giesemann make some pretty hot light fixtures. Which tube combo are you going for? I like how in Australia you guys call them globes. :D

The light comes with giesemann globes, I opted for 4 blue (2 actinic blue, 2 aquablue azure), 2 purple (super purple) and 2 white (aquablue coral) tubes :p

Once they arrive ill fire it up cant wait, just the tank to arrive now and new stainless steel light brackets and we will be live!!

hi I love the aqua scape, what did you use to cement the rock togather to create over hangs?

Use lots of aquaknead and superglue, what I do is add some glue to the aquaknead and mix it up then put a dob on each of the rocks then knead it together...here is a pic of the tubes used for this scape :eek1:

Wow i imagine your hands were stuck to the structures itself when you were done:spin2:
So you mixed the glue into the ball itself?

Some test fitting today of the front panel showed that it was cut 2mm too long :konk: so will be getting a replacement panel in a few weeks...delays :wall:

Finalising the scape, was umming and arring about the top right, whether its flat or at an angle...deciced on flat in the end so it gives some symmetry

That scape will be absolutely outstanding when it gets covered in coral!
Very nice.
Rodney, your tank inspired me to get Mitras, way back when.. But for sps, you have made a wise choice on lighting..

Thanks Matt, the Mitras is still a cool light...I think T5 is till better for a wider variety of SPS, and I wanted a sleek looking unit hung above the tank instead of a DIY frame this time round.

By the end of the month hopefully biggles, it will be hung on the new tank...waiting for the new glass panel is killing me! :headwallblue:

That panel would take 5 mins to cut and a couple of passes on the flat polisher - an hour tops. Hang in there Rodney, won't be long and that awesome rock scape will be under water mate :)
