New tank with LED light

Noticed today my skimmer pump had stopped working, im guessing at least a week! corals lost some color during the skimmer outage but will recover.

A quick trip to LFS and out with the old and in with the new, RLSS R8-U skimmer - a few hours of vinegar bath and its in the tank.

Took some top downs when doing water change tonight

tried to get a shot of this lil guy, he is tiny..and i mean tiny! like 15mm! eats everything!

Beautiful update! Love the pink acro, gorgeous

How do you find the RLSS skimmer so far? I picked up a Waveline 5000dc skimmer pump, to use as a spare in case of a Red Dragon pump failure, and I have to say....works very well

Mate, I have to say, the corals look SUPERB! I think you've found the best lighting system for your tank so far!

cheers guys im happy with how the tank is progressing after the crash.

Bello - the skimmer is doing really well, I wasnt a fan of the waveline pumps but this one is doing great, I had an older one as a return, was way to loud for me but this one is quiet

M007 - I know hey! thats what happens when you put a clam too close to an acro

And yup, this light has probably given me the best results from any other ive had...keeping this one for a while i think

Beautiful acros and clams Rodney, i'm still pretty amazed at what is commonly being supplied to the LFS's now days compared to ten years ago in regards to acros all colors of the rainbow. I don't know but i'm guessing the collectors go deeper now as the overseas market makes it worth the extra effort possibly. Either way it's great to see you putting together a cool collection.
I've noticed the new SSC puts out 15-20mm long feeding filaments rather than simple polyp extension. Does your piece do the same thing, they're very fine and a lot longer than those on the other SSC i have.

your right biggles with the SSC putting out some filaments, its an advantage knowing a collector because some of the corals these days are awesome. We need to do a swapsea one day - should have some nice bits coming in soon from the next dive

Really interested in hearing what changes are taking place in your SPS as a result of going with the Hybrid - richer colors in your SPS? , truer colors ? no change?

Thanks

So far im seeing top results form the hybrid, my pinks and subtle colors of acro are going insane...something i couldnt get out of LED only.

Really happy with the light, highly recommended if your serious about pulling every color out of your corals.

New tank with LED light

Rodney,

I looked back and couldn't find what bulb combination you are running. I run the Mitras with 4 T5s as supplement. It is on a 60 cube and I am running 2 x ATI Blue+ and 2 x Gieseman Pure Actinic. I'm getting there. Trying to find the "Perfect Project and T5 combo" to make the colors pop like I am wanting.

Thanks!

Don

Im running bulbs front to back

Blue
KZ New Gen

LED LED LED @ 70%
Fiji purple

I have the LED adjusted quite white to give some nice shimmer and not look like windex. I run the inner four tubes (B, KZNG, FP, B) for 9 hours and all eight tubes for just 2 hours.

How about some new pics Rodney...been a month since the last batch. I bet you got some cool new acros in that tank... :D
