New tank with LED light

Looks good. I did the same with my 155 in April. Corals grew like crazy under MHs and tore the entire thing down and saved frags from everything. Switched to LEDs and now all is starting to take off once again. Good luck!

Rod,

Nice to see you started a thread. I'm still working on my tank (does one ever stop?)... and as you know I have a Vertex Illumina over my tank... Do you stay running at ~8 white and 100 blue and royal blue? I like the color of the corals better when the light is bluer but currently have peak at around 45 white, 80-90 on the blues... corals look more brown in general. At the early and latter end of my photo period.. when the white led's are dimmed lower the coral colors are acceptable.

Also, how high is your vertex light from the water's surface? I just raised mine to 6" from 5"...

Thanks in advanced.

nice tank dimensions ! plenty of space for acros !
May I ask why a new tank since your current one isn't that old ?
And will you continue with vertex for ligthing ?

I think ill want a bigger one down the track anyway, and before this one grows in and makes the move harder i thought id look into it now. Also I have a tank builder mate, who is building it for just the cost of the glass so im getting it extremely cheap!

i now have a 10x80w ATI PM that will be hung above it, i would love to have the illumina but cant justify the cost of it for that size tank. its $5k here for the 1800...id rather spend the money on stock, like an achilles, 30 anthias, some yellow tangs, SPS, zoos.

can't agree more on this !
and new build is always thrilling...
keep us updated !

Must say, very nice scape indeed ;)
Just ordered my self a custom 36x15x15 rimless looks very much like yours so I'm glad I've now got something to look up to and compare in the future!

this tank is going to stay, the upgrade has been declined..it didnt meet business case lol

ill be rescaping this weekend too, ive got about 40kg of rock ready to play with ontop of the existing rockwork...i need more hiding spots for fish. and want to build it up a bit higher for lighting

busy rescaping and using 5 tubes of aquaknead so far...and ive only started on the LHS! the RHS is just rock dumped in for the time....ive got another 35kg in the sump that i can use to get the right look
