Now it has moved to the bottom of my overflow box. It's a big box 7" x 9" x 96" (end to end) and its on the bottom glass ledge.

No light and little flow. Any ideas on why?

It was in the tank and opening well for four weeks. Huge expansion daily. 5/8/2015 to 6/22/2015.

No changes in light since I added it.

I released it on my sand end next to the side rock wall. It opened nearly immediately and started to move up.

So it stayed put for two months then started moving?

That would lead to questions like:

What's changed? What are your current params and old params? Has it eaten anything other then mysis at all? When was the last water change in relation to when it started moving? Anything recently added to the tank close to it?...etc

Yes. Was fine for a couple of months, then retracted suddenly.

I had an Alk spike a week before it happened. I made a large water change (200g) with RC that was unusually high in Alk. I also increased salinity during that same WC to compensate for a skimmer malfunction.

Nothing in the tank was negatively effected. The RBTA was out during all of this. Then a week later - it hides.

It technically 'looks' healthy and the clowns are still tending to it.

I did add a small gorgonian that was about a foot away from its base disk. It's tentacles would sometimes get out that far which made the gorgonian close up the polyps on that side. But no visible damage to either.

One last thing I can think of- my powerhead angle shifted a little causing some turbulence in the middle of the tank (the RBTA is one the far right), but it seemed to like the secondary flow coming back from it. I adjusted that back when I saw it hide.

I tend to agree with you that it does tend to look very healthy still. Sounds like some things happened that definitely could have ****ed it off and upset it enough to cause it to move. Have you tried placing it back in it's old location now that you have corrected everything and seeing if he will stay put or just start wandering again?

I don't think I can position an anemone. They always refuse and go where they want.

It's big- could it be getting ready to split?

Yes getting ready to split after that big wc is a possibility. I'm guess it started moving because of the ph change of direction.

So... It split

That's not too strange. I think some of you said that might be it.

But here's the weird part. Each clown took one.

Like an angry married couple sleeping in two different beds??

And one moved to the middle of the tank... So the clowns don't even hang out any more. Well, the big one goes and picks on the little one. She kicks him out of that anemone so he goes to the other one..

Any idea what's going on?

Also, one part is really in the center of a bunch of coral... :(

Feels like something's going to die

No one has experienced this before?

My RBTA is touching and I think burning some corals. The gorgonians close up but open up after it recedes but looks like the monti can't do that?
