New to Stomatopods and looking for input

He's still very active. Climbing in and out of the rocks and its really cool watching him move around in the xenia forest.

Very pretty stomatopod that I now have an ID on. He's a G. Chiragra. Which kind of concerns me since he supposed to be able to chip glass when he gets bigger and is very agressive. I do have a concern though that he wont make it through the next molt as I don't know what it is but there is that fuzzy red growth here and there.

With some advice in another thread I started I'm going to start out with lights out for at least the next three days. Then I will reduce the normal lighting schedule. Plus, I'll reduce my feedings and increase my water changes to reduce the nutrients in the tank. I tend to over feed as you can see there is cyano in the tank. So, this may be a good thing either way. But, hopefully this will help with the fuzzy growth on the shell.

Got some great support in the other thread and tracked everything I did in that one here:

Health concerns. Red fuzzy growth.

He looks healthy and fuzz free. He's back in his home now and as active as before. He absolutely went nuts for a piece of krill last night. I will have to throw in some more crabs for him to hunt down. I still need to get some pictures of him or a video.

I got about as good of pictures as I could get tonight. I couldn't use the flash, I couldn't get close to the tank so had to us a zoom which makes it really grainy, and he has been digging up the sand making it really cloudy. They are terribly bad but here they are: Anyone care to confirm G. Chiragra. White meril spots.

Posted this in the wrong thread thinking it was this one...

I have a large turbo snail that my mantis has taken a liking to. By that I mean a punching bag. Its fun to watch as he finally gives up after a few hundred strikes. Then the next day he's at it again.

I also just noticed tonight that he has a small black spot at the front of the white meral spots.

I guess I'll know when to find the Chiragra a new home when he can finally bust through the turbo snails shell.
