New to the hobby. Need some chemistry help

Could anyone refer me to somewhere I can find a listing of all test equipment, chemicals, additives, and other such items that I should be sure to have on hand before I think about putting water into my mixed reef tank. Also any articles that would explain more in detail exactly what numbers I should be aiming for while testing, and how to treat each specific item as to get it to the levels it should be at. Thanks in advance =D

That article is a great place to start.

I use meters to measure pH and salinity (SG). I find them handier than other methods. A good lab thermometer is another item to consider. For all other tests, I use the standard test kit approach.
