Hey everyone ive had my nano 24gal for almost 3 weeks. i did it as a test to see how my wife likes it since she always loves the coloring of the fish. i have always had freshwater.

my nano 24gal includes

came with uv steralizer, chiller, and metal hallide

1 anenome (not sure of kind was given to me by my friend)
2 fake percula clowns ( or so i was told)
3 turbo snails
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
1 green bristle starfish
1 baby hippo tang

i have also started a 100 gal which is still being assembled but have almost everything but lighting.

Hello. That 24 gal sounds nice, that 100 is going to be awesome. I want one so bad, just don't have room anywhere but my garage.

Im also from the 209 area, good to know I have another fellow reefer on RC.

Get rid of the bristle star it will eat your fish, and I hate to say it but your cute baby blue tang is going to grow big, I'm talking dinner plate big, like needs 150-240 gallons big. The fake percula clowns are actually ocsellarius clownfish which looks almost the same but grows a bit darker. I'm sorry if I was a little ruff on you but I just can't stand why pet stores sell fish to beginners knowing they don't have an appropriate setup, it's not fair to the fish it's not even fair to you because blue tangs are ich magnets especially the tiny ones it is only a matter of time before it catches ich and possibly ruins your tank. Anyway when the 100 gallon is setup( which is still 50 gallons short of the minimum tank size in my opinion) be sure to get a quarantine tank set up. End of rant. Again sorry if I was I bit hard on you it's really not your fault it's the pet stores they were completly irresponsible in selling you that fish. Apart from my rant, good luck with your setup and please keep us updated.

Welcome. I almost choked until with the blue hippo and the pair of false percs, ocellaris clowns by the way, until I saw that you had the 100 gallon set up.

Would have to see pics of the anenome to be sure. Keep in mind they need a stable mature tank with a lot of light. It may not fare well in the 100 gallon until it is running 6 months to a year however coming from one tank already it may survive. Personally I would use it as an excuse to keep the 24 gallon as the anenome and clown tank but that's just me.

Oh and I agree with fishuman, the green brittle stars eat fish, and shrimp, and possibly snails. I had one get over 24" across. Very neat and personable and wasn't an issue in the tank that I had him in due to the tank being a lionfish tank, but definately not for a tank with smaller fish. A serpent star that happens to be green is fine however.

100 gallons is on the small side for the hippo in my opinion as well, as well as the majority of the hobby. It may survive there, may even thrive, but it is not the ideal size. The hippos need alot of open space to swim even when young and consume alot of oxygen when they do.

Hmm anyone want want a bristle lol it leaves them alone since I feed it squid chunks lol here's a pic of the anenome also I can't get clowns to host it. It does have green on mouth and tips are white
