Well, I gotta jump in here and defend the price of these things (not sure why - it's just how I "feel").
To me anyone who can't see the difference between these things and a sea-swirl or a scwd deserves what he gets.
First off, has anyone taken apart a sea-swirl? There is no way on this earth that they can justify the price they get for those based on the quality of materials or manufacturing. It is a crude piece of machinery. Paul's machines look anything but crude. Nonetheless the sea-swirl sells many units at the price it has because it is unique and there is nothing else that functions like it on the market. The same can be said for Paul's machines.
There is nothing else out there that provides the flow capability along with the (at this point probable) reliability as these things. Also, to me, the sinusoidal surge that they provide is an important feature that nothing else has, except perhaps for the tunze Streams, which I guess you could buy instead if you are being price sensitive :rolleye1:
I also wonder about the manufacturing of these. It appears that they are all individually cnc machined. I'm not up on the latest manufacturing capabilities of those machines, but I'm guessing that is not the most cost effective method out there.
So, hopefully I won't have justified Paul raising his prices as a result of this reply. I know there will always be people who complain, but to me this is an outstanding product that has been frankly just waiting to be made (it is after all just a very good refinement of a diy concept that has been out there for years), and Paul deserves our gratitude (and some of our money) for doing such an outstanding job with it.
